The Insignia Blu-Ray player (NS-BRDVD3), that I bought last week, was able to read files from CD-R and DVD+R discs. After I updated the firmware today 11/06/2009, the Blu-ray player rejects my DVD+R and CD-R discs. By this, I am saying that it attempts to read the contents, and then it opens the disc tray. No error appears on screen.
The contents on the discs are AVI files. Thank you for your support in advance.

Hello mxavier,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
One good thing to try in the case would be to restore the settings to the factory defaults.
You can do that by accessing the SYSTEM menu and then select the option RESET SETTINGS.
After you do that, you can actually re-install the firmware updates see if that fixes the issue.
If that doesnt work I'd suggest you to take the unit back to store to be checked under warranty terms.
I hope that works for you and dont forget to contact us back about any other question or inconvenience !.
Regards,
Gonzo

The new firmware does not recognize most video file extensions (see the thread about not playing files off USB for details).
I've noticed that if I load a disc that does not have anything the player recognizes it will immediately eject the disc. I have a bunch of DVD-Rs full of AVIs that used to play and now just get ejected.
