if you have bd live enabled on your player, yuo are going to need at least a 2gb usb thumb drive connected to the back of the player.
you can disable bd live, if you dont have a thumb drive

My NS-WBRDVD plays will not load some Blu Ray discs. I presume it is an update problem. None is available by network. I downloaded the following update to a USB drive:
20101222_NSWBRDVD_BBY_B052_109_34 (2)
and uploaded it to the player. But the Blu Ray disc still gets stuck in 'Waiting' and will not 'Load.'
Is there any firmware that I need to download? Following another discussion thread I turned off BD Live and inserted an 8GB USB drive. It did not work..

Hello pwspirn,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
The update you applied is the most current available for your player. Does your player still play some disks but not others after reinstalling the firmware?

Yes. I installed this firmware twice:
20101222_NSWBRDVD_BBY_B052_109_34
I also tried installing firmware for both NS-WBRDVD2 and 3 that was more recent (December 2011), but neither would install.
Then I tried turning off BD Live, and finally turning on BD Live with a clean 8GB USB drive in the player.
Always the same problem, it starts to play the BluRay disc with the message WAITING, stops after about 2 minutes and never posts LOADING.
Don't you think it is a firmware compatibility problem?
Thanks, John

Hello pwspirn,
Does the play still play most Blu-ray discs, but will not load certain discs or will it simply not play at all?

Dear Zac,
I play BluRay discs rarely, but had never encountered any problems until I received three BluRay discs of the Treme TV series from Netflix and it would not play any of them beyond the two minute intro, all the while with 'WAITING" on the message bar and never changing to 'LOADING.'
Twice, using a fresh USB drive each time, I installed the following firmware downloaded from the Insignia website:
20101222_NSWBRDVD_BBY_B052_109_34
The download was 'successful' but did not solve the problem. I also tried installing firmware for both NS-WBRDVD2 and 3 that was more recent (December 2011), but neither would install.
Then I tried turning off BD Live, and finally turning on BD Live with a clean 8GB USB drive in the player.
Always the same problem, it starts to play the BluRay disc with the message ;WAITING,' stops after about 2 minutes and never posts LOADING.
Don't you think it is a firmware compatibility problem?
In the meantime where can I obtain a cleaner disc to clean the lenses?
Thanks,
Paul

Hello pwspirn,
Unfortunately I believe that this is a result of the Blu-ray disc not being supported by the firmware on the player. It is also unfortunate that due to the "Discontinued" status of this player, firmware updates are not in development. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced as a result of this issue.

Thank you for replying. Established manufacturers like Sanyo and Sony continue to issue firmware updates for discontinued products. Why should I buy Insignia products in new technologies if I run the risk of obsolescence? What can you offer to encourage me to buy an up to date Insignia BluRay player?
