I just bought this unit tonight after having purchased one last year and having a good experience.. Set up on the new unit and it went fine and also updated the firmware during the initial setup.
While checking out Pandora I hit the "menu" button and the unit locked up. Now I can only power up and down and open the tray. All other functions are dead. It seems to be"bricked"
I called support and was told that I shouldn't/t update the firmware unless I am having issues."Return it to the store and get a new one" was the support response. WTF!
I pressed the support person about the update issue (The unit is telling me to update).
What if new features are available and I don't update out of fear that I will kill my unit? Not good!
She then hung up on me. She had my phone number so I can only assume since she didn't have an answer, she dumped the call. If that were not the case somebody would have called me back.
I'm returning it to the store tomorrow. I think I'll go with another brand vs. a straight exchange, unless anyone can give me a reason not to buy another brand,
I'm very disappointed with this unit and the support of Insignia.

Hello aervoid,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I apologize for the extremely late reply. Generally speaking, reinstalling the firmware update can resolve issues that result from a problematic installation. It can be downloaded here.
I'm grateful for the feedback that you provided about your experience calling Product Support. I will pass it along for review and appropriate action.
Sincerely,
John
