NS-BRDVD3 -- Why does my player have poor Netflix picture quality?

Hey guys,

 

So my NS-BRDVD3 blu-player has trouble with Netflix movies. For some reason, the picture quality is poor (like, VHS quality poor). I don't know why. I'm using a wired ethernet connection and an HDMI cable. When I watch Netflix movies via my Roku Player, the picture quality is usually just fine.

 

Why would the picture quality for Netflix movies be so bad on my blu-ray player? What can I do to alleviate this problem?

One of the earlier firmware updates addressed an issue with Netflix pixelization, I believe.  Does the player prompt you that there is an update available, and have you applied it?  However, from what I recall, this was severe pixelization, to the point of not really being able to see the movie.  Yours sounds more like a low bandwidth situation.  I don't know if perhaps you contacted Netflix support whether or not they would be able to see what is happening from their end - they may be stepping down the video quality to meet the available bandwidth.

Do you have any other computers or mobile phones (such as an iPhone) that are connected to the web when you're trying to watch something from your Netflix queue?

 

I found that if I shut down the other computers in the house I get much better picture quality on my Netflix viewings.
