NS-BRHTIB and Dual Layer DVD-Rs

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone as had any success playing home burned Dual Layer DVD-Rs on this system?

It plays them fine until it hits the layer switch and then it freezes and stutters after that.

Also, it will not play Dual Layer DVD+Rs at all.

This has been happening even before I installed the 2 latest firmware updates (February and October).

My Sony Blu-Ray player has no problem at all playing both.

Will Insignia look into this sometime in the near future?

Thanks.

Re: NS-BRHTIB and Dual Layer DVD-Rs

Hello tmelo,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

You should be fine playing dual layer DVDs (most of the rented movies you play are double layer and you seem to be OK with them). Keep in mind that depending how you recorded the movie, it may take a couple of seconds to start reading the second layer. A good point to start will be to check the program you are using to burn your movies, the Booktype and media choice.

Regarding the Sony player being able to read those disks, some players will be more delicate than others when playing recoded media, my advise will be to, as I said before, check the options you are choosing while burning, and try using a slowest burning speed to avoid damaging your lens.

If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!

Thank you,
Guille

Hi Guille,

regardless of media, speed and software the DL dvds are burned with, it happens all the time.

It must be the cheap lasers used on these systems.

Thanks.
