Does anyone at Insignia have any idea when a firmware update will be out for this player,
you seemed very ready to put this unit on the shelves as a wireless Netflix unit but you seem
reluctant to give the buyers any kind of a date on the firmware....I have a feeling alot of these
are going to be coming back to you.

When I saw the player in the ad I thought it said it would work with Netflix. On the support page it says the update is coming 'mid-october'. I figure if I don't hear a date by next weekend I'll just take it back...or if I find one that already has it, this one will go back.
I think that's pretty sleazy saying it will be 'coming soon'.

Just picked mine up today after finding a $50 off coupon at reward zone and totally hyped about a Netflix ready player. After spending some time trying to troubleshoot why it was reflecting my connection was great but was getting hung up at the server, I called customer service. I was told the firmware update would be available 31 Oct....
We'll see; agree with very poor advertising that a device is Netflix ready and reading on the website it would be ready early Oct as that was the biggest reason I jumped on it. Also debating whether or not to just return it.

I agree with the post that it's pretty sleezy of Insignia to sell a product... that people buy *primarily* for the Netflix feature.... when they don't have that feature working yet. And from reading how long past the due date the other firmware has come out, I'm guessing this won't be out for months.
I get off work at 5pm... unless an Insignia person has replied with an acceptable reply, my unit is going back to Best Buy tonight!
Now I know why the Netflix web site doesn't have an "activate" link for Insignia... because there's nothing to activate yet. However, the Netflix site *does* have an activate link for both LG and Samsung players.
There are 54 good reviews of the LG Blue-ray disc player (w/wireless), model #LG BD390. It's $299, but as long as it's actually working, that's worth the extra money.
