try mkvmerge...
Has anyone tried renaming the US firmware to the CA format and applying it to a CA player?

Hello martik,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
Firmware updates are designed to be applied only to the model specified. It is not recommended that they be used to update a different model player.

Why have there not been firmware updates to correct the 2GB limit issues on the CA model ???

Hello again martik,
As previously stated, MKV playback is not a supported feature of this player. Your feedback will be taken into consideration for future product development, but no firmware update is planned to add MKV support.

Can someone please help me. I have the WBRDVD, refurbished, not sure if it is the Canada or US model. I am trying to play off a USB which is formatted to FAT32. If I play an MKV file that is less than 1GB it plays fine, but when I try to split a 4.3Gb file and play the separate files I get a blank screen and then it hangs off and says FULLSTOP. I split the file into 2GB size files. Any advice?

One other thing. When I play the <1GB file there is no problem. When I split it using mkvmerge the two smaller files won't play. It must be something with mkvmerge....not sure what I am doing wrong. Any ideas what I am doing wrong with mkvmerge....just inputed the file, hit global, enable splitting, and start muxing....

Well I'm glad to know how much the mislead customers that have invested time and money into your companies products actually mean to you. I will be sure to share this information with every one I come across.
After reading the information on the product in question and the fact that there seems to be not effort on the companies part for any type of resolution is a complete let down. You should not expect anyone who is aware of these types of situations to do business with or even consider your company for any type of purchase in the future.
At this point I will be more that happy to fill out a failing review for your company on as many blog, web page, survey I happen to come across.
Good day,
Sharon Allen
