Hello everybody,
I have quite a few MKV movie files stored on dvds. My NS-WBRDVD plays them to a point, but can never get all the way through one. It arbitrarily stops playback and the display says "Full Stop" without warning. Furthermore, it always does it in exactly the same place in whichever video I'm watching. I've tested these files' playback in VLC Media Player and they give no indication of any corruption or playback issues on my computer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance and happy new year!

I have had the issue around the 2 gig mark on MP4 files.

Same here, around 45 mins appears to be a limitation, like 2 gigs as said by rhill0, very annoying as i had many friends over and watching homemade movies and it shuts down, the 2x FF or Rew stinks too.
I also own a WBRDVD3 model.....will have to try it on that.
*update* same issues with WBRDVD3
Wonder if usb playback suffers the same problem?
Also tried to move the mkv file to a external hard drive, it's over 4 gigs wont do it, found this on microsoft website......
The maximum possible size for a file on a FAT32 volume is 4 GB minus 1 byte (232−1 bytes). Video applications, large databases, and some other software easily exceed this limit. Larger files require another formatting type such as NTFS.
So if they can ever make it read NTFS format instead of Fat32 then we'll have problems

I would just like to add that the NS-BRDVD3-CA does this, too. It cuts mkv file playback at the 2 gig marker, at least on USB thumb drives. I would bet their entire catalogue of products behaves this way since this is the 3rd model mentioned in this thread. It's got to be something in the programming (firmware).

It happens around 19 minutes on a 1080p mkv movie that I have. Perhaps it does occur a certain number of bytes into a movie. A 1080p movie would have a higher bitrate and thus the 2 gig (or whatever the limitation is) mark would occur sooner.
I definitely think this is an issue with all the players as opposed to a series of flukes as this is actually my second WBRDVD with identical results.
Thanks for all the replies!

Just tried playing through one, and yup, stopped at around the 52 minute mark.
Do we think this will be fixed, or, is that just the deal with MKV support on any brand of blu-ray player?
So bummed.
