My NS-WBRDVD is having trouble playing Instant Videos from Netflix. Well... it does play them, after a really LONG wait whilst it is "retrieving" the video. It used to happen very quickly. In reading the tech blog at Netfilx, they may have introduced a new API on Dec 8th, which is when my problem started. Just a possible clue.
Please advise,
Al

I have the same problem. I called tech support. They said it was a Netflix Blueray server problem. Mine started after a firmware update. It installed a different movie service and Netflix would not work.
Funny, I can still access Netflix with my laptop and a different DVD player that is not Insignia. I just purchased mine recently. If the problem does not clear I am going to return my unit and "Buy a different brand".
Underhanded marketing or poor software programming. Ether or I don't appreciate the hassle.

I'm still having this problem... Netflix accesss takes FOREVER! This started at the same time as all of the other Netflix issues popped up here. Again, I'll mention that Netflix changed their API on Dec 8th, and I think that's related to all of this mess.
Please advise.

Someone recently commented that this wasnt a "security issue" sorry but most of the "facts" we talk about here accually came from discussions we have had with Netflix & Insignia reps. I was told as were others that firmware & api fixes/updates primarily make the product "more secure". They are not enhancements or improvements to the offering, simply security tightening. Regardless to your "opinion" it is obvious the net has been tightened.
Why dont you call them & ask?

I'm not sure what it is that you're trying to say.
I don't care if my Netflix access times are due to security improvements, or feature enhancement. I was just reporting what I was seeing, and noting that my problem started at the same time Netflix changed their API. That may, or may not, have anything to do with it. I hope that Insignia will figure it out.
My problem is not similar to the ton of other posting from D3 owners about having to re-register their machines to gain Netflix access.

Here's a thought. There are to many postings about similar problems.
Maybe the company should just fix the software that runs the unit.
A new idea, customer service.

Hello heynnema,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I would like to ask you a few questions to better understand your issue.
Are you using a router or directly connecting to your modem?
If you have a router are you connected via hardwire or wireless?
What type of Internet connection do you use, Cable/DSL/Dial Up?
Approximately how long is the delay?
Does this happen with every video you load or just the first viewing you attempt after logging in?
Regards,
Tom

Hello Tom! Thanks for your response!
> Are you using a router or directly connecting to your modem?
I'm using a wireless router.
>If you have a router are you connected via hardwire or wireless?
Wireless, however I'm not using the built-in wireless of the Insignia. My setup is a little wierd, but it looks like this:
modem->Apple Extreme wireless router...
then, some distance from the main house...
Apple Express set to "extend" the wireless network->8-port gigabit switch->hard-wired-port on the Insignia.
>What type of Internet connection do you use, Cable/DSL/Dial Up?
3Gb cable
>Approximately how long is the delay?
I should measure it, but it's probably 60-120 secs, or more. I'll measure it, and report back here. I'm using a Logitech Revue as a measurement standard... it takes only 1-5 seconds. The Insignia was always longer, but not as long as it is now (and I still think that Netflix's Dec 8th API change is to blame).
>Does this happen with every video you load or just the first viewing you attempt after logging in?
I haven't tried more than one video in a row, as the startup delay is sooo long... but I'll try it, and report back here.
Cheers, Al

Tom,
I also forgot to ask you... what's the difference between my WBRDVD, and newer D1/D2/D3/D4 models?
Cheers, Al
