NS-WBRDVD Plays B-R discs but does not fill the screen.

The unit plays flawlessly and connects to netflix perfectly. The problem is the picture is cropped on the top and the bottom. This occurs on blue ray discs only. Do I have a setting problem?

If you mean you have black bars at the top and bottom, then that's normal depending on the aspect ratio of the movie. Many movies are wider than 16:9, hence the bars. If it's really cropped (part of the picture extends above and below your screen where you can't see it), then check the zoom/wide settings in your tv and zoom out until you get the whole picture. I keep my player set to 16:9 Pillar Box so none of the picture is ever cropped, but I will get bars if the picture is too wide or too tall.

I use 16:9 Pillarbox as well. FYI, in case there are some wondering about this. I started using the Pillarbox setting because movies that are in the standard 4:3 aspect ratio were being stretched to fit the 16:9 screen. The Pillarbox setting will display those movies in the correct aspect ratio, but you will have black bars on the sides, so if you don't like that, and don't mind the stretching then just use 16:9.

mdavej I'm glad I came across this.  It was driving me crazy that if I put in a DVD that was not widescreen I was getting stretch-o-vision, which I absolutely WILL NOT watch.  Changing it to 16:9 Pillarbox now.

SO GLAD I found this thread tonight!  Now it's set for 16:9 pillarbox.  Everything displays in its proper aspect ratio.  No more stretch-o-vision for 4:3 aspect ratio DVDs or non-widescreen Netflix downloads!

I've had this TV and Blu-Ray player for three weeks now (well, as of tomorrow), and as of right now everything FINALLY works right!
