Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

Re: ThreeRedHeads,

I also had BIG problems  with my remote. Also, I confused my player by 1st connecting it with WEP, then trying to go to WPA.   I exchanged entire unit. New remote works GREAT, had Netfix running in ten minutes.       When you bring new unit home go to WIRELESS option, then use NETWORK LIST option  & put in your password. Since you have already got your router configured you shouldn't have any more problems.

I know it's a pain to go back to the store but it was well worth it for me.  I think Insignia has a BIG PROBLEM with quality control with their units, at least the NS-WBRDVD.

I think a lot of the WiFi problems are router problems (yes, most of you won't agree). Also, the unit seems to be 'finicky" (for want of a better term), some units work, some don't - NOT THE WAY to build a good reputation ( QUALITY CONTROL!).

The unit is lower priced but it should still work & when it does it's great.  My advice, try the NETWORK LIST option 1st. If you have to go to MANUAL option, be sure you're familiar with WEP OPEN/ SHARED/ WPA etc. If not, try to find someone who is or get ROGER to walk you thru it.

When all else fails get another unit or buy a higher priced unit .    GOOD LUCK!!!

RE: Sybersprite

If you are not doing MAC filtering I would say it is just a bad unit.

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

postwork

I just returned the player and got a new one.  Hook up took me 5 minutes and the remote works!  Plus, the Netflix movies are much better quality now.  Maybe there was something wrong with the other player, not just the remote.

Thanks to everyone for their help!

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

I have tried ALL the suggestions here and still fail to connect to Nexflix.  I see no reason except for poor quality control (antenna or unit design) that I cannot connect.  Why should I have to buy a new router or anything else, when everything I have works wirelessly without a problem?  I understand that many people connect with no problems, but after going through 25 pages of posting obliviously a lot of people are having problems.

I finally gave up and strung 50 feet of cable to the unit.  I thought my trouble would be over, but now it is just something else.  If I am watching a movie and decide to watch something else I cannot do that.  When I stop the movie and select another one, Netflix advises, “Cannot connect to Netflix.  Please try later” or “the Nexflix server returned an error”.  Every time without exception.  The only way to get another movie is to turn the player off and start all over again.  Is this a Netflix problem or an Insignia problem?  At this point I don’t care.  The unit goes back tomorrow. And I didn’t even talk about the remote problems.

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

Roger,

Thanks for the tip.  It's actually the second unit I've tried, after having thought perhaps the first one was a bad unit.  Since they both did the same thing, it would be a pretty big coincidence to get two faulty units in a row...

Anyway, best of luck to everyone!

re: ThreeRedHeads

Hi

I use a RCA 8-1 Learning remote its fantastic its the second one i buy like this and they are cheap and work perfectly. If your remote is not in the code list you can make your rca remote learn any functions from the original remote.I have my LCD,cable box, xbox, dvd and blu-ray on it and it works great.

The only downfall is that the memory on this remote is not as much as a logitech remote but you can program all the main function you need for your device.I have 5 devices on it but if you have only 3-4 you can program almost every functions.

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

Goonieboy,

When I exchanged the whole unit, the remote worked, but it's not the most responsive.  The remote you mention is really cheap!  I am going to read up on it and might order it.  One remote would be much better than 3!

Thanks so much!

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

Verizon actiontec is working fine now. I do not know why an insignia employee told me it would not work. On page -9- Unsatisfied explains step by step how to change to WPA, if you can't get a Verizon rep to help. I did have to return my 1st player after trying everything, would get connection signal but no netflix. With new one I hooked up 1st with cable, downloaded update put in my password and we were up and running.  Moved unit to television where it is now wireless entered my new Verizon password 1 time connected and never touched it again.

The player has worked flawlessly for over a month now WE LOVE IT.

Re: NS-WBRDVD cannot connect to wireless network

I was having issue with my NS-WBRDVD player for a while and finally got it to connect wirelessly to Netflix 100% of the time.  I'm not exactly sure which change i made that made it work.  In hopes that this will help someone else, here are the changes I made:

- Changed router to use "WPA Only" as the wireless setting.

- Turned off MAC filtering on the router

- On the Blu-Ray player, disabled IP mode by selecting "Off" under the WIRED setting.

- On the Blu-Ray player, changed IP to "dynamic" under the WIRELESS setting.
