When using a 50' long HDMI cable, my tv displays "invalid format" but when I use a 6' cable, it works. I connected a Toshiba DVD player to the 50' cable and it works fine, so I think the cable is ok. My WBRDVD also will not read regular DVD's ("no disc" appears on the unit screen). I downloaded and installed the latest insignia firmware and it didn't help either issue. Can anyone help me? Thanks,

Hello pdlbms,
It is possible that there is too much signal loss when using a 50' length of cable. There is no set standard for maximum length of HDMI cables, but the quality of the cable has a large role when dealing with long lengths. In my personal experience signal quality can get somewhat flakey after about 35'.
With regards to the player not playing regular DVD's, this could be a hardware issue with the laser responsible for reading DVD's. There are two separate lasers (one for Blu-rays and one for DVD's) as a result, Blu-rays may read just fine, but DVD's will not read properly. I would suggest taking the player to your local Geek Squad to have a technical assessment preformed on it.
