Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

I have a Insignia Remote NS-RC02U-10A and I tried the remote code in the book for the NS-BRDVD3 (21268) but when I press the power button (or any button), there is a red circle with a line through it at the top right of the screen with the word Prohibited.  Is there another code that will work?  If it matters, I did just update the DVD player to the new firmware (that enables Netflix) but I don't know the firmware version.  The player is brand new out of the box, so I don't know if it would have worked before the udpate.

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

Hi hartmaan,

I double-checked the code you mention in the manual for the NS-L46X-10A and it is under regular DVD Players.

The code will work for our DVD Players, but not with our Blu-ray players (for which unfortunately there is no code).

My advice is for you to keep on using the original Insignia remote to control de Blu-ray.

Regards,

Gonzo

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

What a shame, I have the new Insignia 46inch 120hz TV (brilliant picture by the way, when viewing BD) and the Insignia Blue Ray, which I bought together, thinking that the same remote would control products from the same manufacturer ?

What was I thinking ?

Looks like I'll have to return both products...........

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

Ironically, the NS-RC02U-10A Insignia remote controls my Cisco Set-Top Cable Box without a hiccup, yet Insignia did not have the foresight to make it's latest generation High-Def TV remote compatible with the  DVD player most likely to be mated to this TV ??

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

If you like both devices you should spend $20 on a universal remote. Then you can control all your devices, not just TV and BD.  THIS post describes which one to buy and how to program it.

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

By the way, so as the moderation team doesn't think I'm bashing Insignia, I'd like to point out that the NS-RC02U-10A remote control unit is the most appealing* of it's kind that I've used to date, which is why I find it particularly disturbing that it can't control it's sister devices.

*Very ergonomic, well balanced, fits the hand comfortably, buttons have a positive feel to them and are spaced nicely on the remote, buttons light up when used, and in general has the feel of a quality device.

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

I have to add my displeasure to the information that you INSIGNIA is telling its customer community!

I think that it is a sad state of affairs that your own products are not supported by other INSIGNIA products!

I bought this combination of TV and BLUE_RAY player because I thought they worked together. I also had to go through additional effort to try and get the correct remote from BESTBUY so that I could simplify my life by

using one remote and making things easy for my wife. But I see that is not the case.

So, I now have sit and discuss this matter with my wife because of this incompatibility and decide whether I

want to consider returning these 2 products or hope that INSIGNIA is going to step up to the plate and make

this right  for us customers!

I do not see how you can be selling this BLUE-RAY player that cannot be controlled by other remotes when

you have other products that are.

I think INSIGNIA owes this community an explanation for this shortcoming and how INSIGNIA plans to address the issue.

Re: Remote code needed for NS-BRDVD3

I agree that insignia products should work together. But even sony's tv remotes won't work their own blu-ray players. Many makers don't have universal remotes at all. So insignia isn't the only one. If you get any learning remote or one of the remotes listed in my post linked a few posts up, you will have a working solution.
