Re: Firmware blowout

As stated before I have NO warraranty it expired, purchased from Bestbuy.com online (ebay).  Can this issue be fixed or not? Or do I just have NO alternative but to throw it out?

Re: Firmware blowout

Hello again lrod,

I apologize for my confusion and appreciate your clarification on where the unit was purchased.  If you haven't already, try installing the previous firmware to see if that restores functionality to your player.  Be sure to power-cycle the player after the installation.  Let us know your results.

Regards,
John

Re: Firmware blowout

John,  Exactly nothing happen.  Light still flashing, player door still will not open.  I dwnld the previous firmware (Dec.2011) on this site and had to use a flash drive. Power-cycle the player and all to NO avail.

Re: Firmware blowout

Hello Irod,

My suggestion is to unplug the player from the power outlet as well as any cables connecting it to the TV(composite/component/HDMI). Leave it unplugged for at least 30 minutes then plug everything back in. This should allow the player to restart successfully.

Re: Firmware blowout

Sorry, but if you don't have a warranty and can not take it back to Best Buy, your options are out. I replace it with a vizio I bought from Walmart (Better Service, Warranty and more locations)  threw out the Insignia as it is of no use.   "Learn from your mistake, if you can't learn from others".  Forget and Move On.  Good Luck.

Re: Firmware blowout

The only thing that worked for me was to reload the firmware from august.

Re: Firmware blowout

Mine did.  I just downloaded the firmware, moved it to the usb stick, and stuck the stick into the USB port of the player.  My player read the USB stick just fine.  I don't have the model info handy right now, but what is your model number?

Re: Firmware blowout

model wbrdvd2-ca....canada version .... sadly , i bought the player to my parents in Peru,,, now the shipping to send it back to repair , and re send the player to my parents is expensive , that i prefer dont do nothing, that mean , i will lose the player.

The firmware have to be save in a microchip in the player , i asked insignia to send me the microchip to change it ( is very cheap in peru ) , and I dont care if I lose the warranty , because i already lose the player , but insignia dont want to do it ...:smileysad:
