10. My camcorder will not turn on.

  • Is the battery installed correctly?
    • Slide the battery cover off your camcorder.
    • Insert the battery into the battery compartment. Make sure that the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the battery align with the + and – symbols in the battery compartment.
    • Replace the battery compartment cover.
  • The battery may be dead. Recharge your battery by using the supplied power adapter.
    • The battery takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to charge depending on how much battery has been drained.

 

NOTE: The battery is shipped with only a 30% charge. You will need to charge your camcorder battery before you can use it for the first time.

11. My camcorder will not record a movie even though I pressed the movie shutter button.

  • You may not have completely pressed the Movie Shutter button ( ). Press the Movie Shutter button all the way down.
  • The camcorder may still be saving the last movie or picture. Wait until the Power Indicator LED (located to the left of the movie shutter button ) is solid green before recording a movie.
  • The memory card may be locked. Turn the camcorder Off and remove the memory card.
    • Change the locking tab on the memory card to unlocked.
  • The memory card may be full.
    • Transfer movies from the camcorder to a computer and delete them off of the memory card.
      • To transfer photos:
        • Windows XP, Windows Vista
          • Connect the mini-USB cable to the USB port on your camcorder, then connect the other end to a USB port on your computer.
          • Open My Computer or Windows Explorer on your computer.
          • A new “Removable Disk” appears in the drive list.
          • Double-click Removable Disk to view the contents. Your movies are located in the folder named DCIM\200MOVIE.
          • Select all of the movies. Copy and paste them to the desired location on your computer.
          • Mac OS
            • Connect the mini-USB cable to the USB port on your camcorder, then connect the other end to a USB port on your computer.
            • Double-click the new “Removable” drive that appears on the desktop to view the contents. Your movies are located in the folder named DCIM\200MOVIE.
            • Select all of the movies. Copy and paste them to the desired location on your computer.
        • To delete movies off of the camcorder:
          • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to playback mode.
          • Press < or > to select MOVIE.
          • Press OK twice to open the movie option menu.
          • Press < or > to select Delete.
          • Press OK to open the delete menu.
          • Press < or > to select the movie you want to delete.
          • Press W (down) to delete the movie. If you want to delete all the movies, press T (up). A confirmation message appears.
          • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Yes. If you want to cancel the deletion, select No.
          • Press OK to confirm your selection and close the menu.

 

OR

 

                         Insert a new memory card.

 

  • The memory card may not be formatted correctly.
    • To format the memory card:
      • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
      • Press OK to open the record menu.
      • Press < or > to select Setting. The Setting menu opens.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Format Card, then press OK. The Format Card menu opens.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Yes or No, then press OK to save your selection and close the menu.

12. My camcorder did not take the picture even though I pressed the picture shutter button.

13. My LED light will not stay on when I try to record video.

  • Did you accidentally press the > button? This button will turn the LED light On and Off.
  • The LED power light is turned off automatically if the battery power is low. The battery power indicator is located in the lower right corner of the LCD screen.

14. My flash is not going off when I take pictures.

  • The flash may be off.
    • To set the flash setting for pictures:
      • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
      • Press OK. The Record menu opens.
      • Press < or > to select Camera Mode.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Flash, then press OK.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to choose from:
        • Auto flash : Flash fires automatically when shooting conditions require extra lighting. Use this mode for general photography.
        • On : Flash fires for every picture.
        • Off: Flash never fires. Use this mode when flash photography is prohibited or when the subject is beyond the range of the flash.
        • Red-eye reduction : Flash fires twice right before you take the picture. Use this mode to help eliminate red reflection in eyes.
  • Make sure that your camcorder is not in Macro Mode. The Macro Mode switch is located on the side of the camcorder.

15. The video is blurry or out of focus.

  • The subject may have been beyond the range of the camera’s focus.
  • If the subject is located about 7.8 inches (20 cm) away turn Macro Mode On.
    • Do not use Macro Mode when shooting distant subjects.
    • To use the Macro Mode feature:
      • Slide the Macro switch to the Macro  position. The Macro icon  appears in the lower right corner of the LCD screen.
  • The camcorder may have been moving when the video was taken.
    • Hold the camera steady when shooting a video.
    • Consider using a tripod.
    • Use the motion stabilization for movies.
      • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
      • Press OK. The Record menu opens.
      • Press < or > to select Movie Mode.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Stabilization, then press OK.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select On or Off, then press OK to save your selection and close the menu.
      • The motion stabilization icon  will appear in the upper right corner of the LCD when it is On.
  • The camcorder is shipped with a clear plastic covering over the lens for protection. Be sure this covering is removed by peeling it off the lens.
  • The lens of your camcorder may be dirty. Clean it carefully with a lens cleaning cloth and/or lens cleaning fluid.

16. The picture taken is blurry or out of focus.

17. The camcorder does not respond when a button is pressed.

  • The camcorder may have turned off. Press the POWER button to turn the camera On.
  • Is the camcorder connected to a computer?
    • If yes, most of the camcorder buttons do not respond when the camcorder is connected to the computer.
  • The battery may be dead. Recharge your battery by using the supplied power adapter.
    • The battery takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to charge depending on how much battery has been drained.
  • The camcorder may still be saving the last movie or picture. Wait until the Power Indicator LED (located to the left of the movie shutter button ) is solid green.
  • Make sure you are using an SD memory card in your camcorder.
    • If you are using an incorrect or corrupt memory card you camcorder may not function correctly.
    • To determine if your memory card is corrupt:
      • Turn the camcorder Off and remove the memory card.
      • Turn the camcorder On and try to use the buttons.
      • If the buttons work, the memory card is corrupted and needs to be replaced.

18. How do I reset the camcorder?

  • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
  • Press OK. The Record menu opens.
  • Press < or > to select Setting. The Setting menu opens.
  • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Default Setting, then press OK. The Default Setting menu opens.
  • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Yes. If you want to cancel the restoration, select No.
  • Press OK to close the menu.

19. The power light is on, but the camcorder will not work.

  • The camcorder may have experienced a temporary problem.
    • Turn the camcorder Off then turn it back On.
  • You may need to reset your camcorder.
    • To reset the camcorder:
      • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
      • Press OK. The Record menu opens.
      • Press < or > to select Setting. The Setting menu opens.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Default Setting, then press OK. The Default Setting menu opens.
      • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Yes. If you want to cancel the restoration, select No.
      • Press OK to close the menu.
  • The memory card may not be formatted correctly or may be corrupt.
    • To determine if the card is an issue:
      • Turn the camcorder Off and remove the memory card.
      • Turn the camcorder On and try to use the buttons.
      • If the buttons work, the memory card may not be formatted correctly or is corrupt and needs to be replaced.
      • Try reformatting the memory card:
        • Press  (Record/Play) to switch to record mode.
        • Press OK to open the record menu.
        • Press < or > to select Setting. The Setting menu opens.
        • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Format Card, then press OK. The Format Card menu opens.
        • Press T (up) or W (down) to select Yes or No, then press OK to save your selection and close the menu.
        • If the camera still does not work after formatting the memory card, the memory card is corrupt and needs to be replaced.
