Hi,

I live in Brazil and my Father brougth me a NS-NAV01 car GPS.

In the Bestbuy they said that I could download the brazilians maps from the internet.

Where I can do this download??

How come does the Best Buy seller tells us that we could download ANY map for this GPS?

Don't know, it's a relatively new product; so there is not alot of stuff advaitbe.

I also bought the NS-NAV01 gps from bestbuy because the guy at the store told me I can download Mexico´s maps from NavTeq, but for my surprise NavTeq web pages doesn't list this brand.

What options do I have?  Can someone help me hacking this device, I should I return it to bestbuy?

I also learned after the fact that I could not add/buy maps from NAVTEQ. IMHO, someone from Insignia should advise us when they plan on offering additional maps for this GPS receiver.

Perhaps @ US$99 it's considered as a "loss leader" by Best Buy. However, the fact that we were pointed by the BB sales person to the NAVTEQ site for updates, we then buy the device to only learn from NAVTEQ: "Sorry, you can't buy or download maps from us for your device. Ask the OEM". This kind of makes me wonder if I did not waste my money on this GPS receiver?

This being said, on the positive side, the NAV01 does work pretty well in the USA. I used it in Florida and in other states with good results. I was hoping to be able to use it in Canada... which was not the case as there are no maps available.

Our products are exclusively sold in the USA.

We officially provide maps for the USA only; however we appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind when designing future products.

Thank you for the answer.  Maybe someone should teach this to the salesman at bestbuy.

The fact is that the guy from the store (Bestbuy) assured me I can find Mexico Maps at Navteq web page.  Now I have a gps that can not use in my country, the intention of my purchase.

Hmm... as I understand your reply, it seems that we will never get maps for any country apart from the USA. Like for the other buyer, I was told by the Best Buy sales person that maps for Canada would be available and downloadable as I specifically asked about this BEFORE buying the product. So I now also have a device which can only be used in the USA. This also means that I will now need to buy another GPS receiver as I was expecting to be able to use this one outside the country. If the sales person had told me that, I would NOT have buyed the NAV01... pitty. All I can say is "caveat emptor".
