Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "Span Mode"? As this is not a feature of this device.

The model number is NS-NAV01. Maybe it's Pan mode.

In order to leave "Pan Mode" and focus the map back on the location of the car, press "Center Car" at the bottom of the map.

Yes normally this has worked in the past but I tried hitting the center car but it is not working. My sister and mother-in-law got the same Insignia GPS for Christmas a year ago and theirs is having the same problem. They also tried pressing the center car but it does not work on theirs either.

Have you tried using the "Restore Settings" option to restore you device back to factory defaults?

No, I did not know you could do that. Are there instruction on how to get to the "Restore Settings" online?

Hello sandrakf,

To reset your GPS Navigator, press a slim tool such as an unbent paper clip onto the Reset Button on the bottom of the unit. You can find a schematic and more information in the User Manual.
