Thanks for the suggestion. We are currently working on additional ways to get map and software updates to customers in the easiest and most efficient way possible. We will offer Map updates online later this year.

well, as i said, thank you for the map update. I have one other question. I went ahead and paid (thru geek squad) the additional 1 year fee for google search for my gps unit as my year was up. They say that the 99.00 fee includes 4 free updates of the map. Then their geek squad desk tells me that "THEY DONT DO UPDATES"..
whie my maps are updated currently, i really hate best buys lies on their site and stores. If they dont want to back up their products...ill not buy from them ever again

Hello grsthegreat,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I really have no explanation for your experience. Your local Geek Squad desk should know where to find the update file and, following the provided instructions, install it. We are looking at a new delivery system for map updates, so please check back with us from time to time for details.
I'm grateful to you for bringing your experiences and feedback to the forums. We do our best to listen when our customers speak.
Regards,
John

Can someone post a link for the map an firmware updates? I have been in and out of BBY stores in Minneapolis over the last couple of months asking about updates and how much it was going to cost to extend the service.
Today I went into BBY at the Mall of America, two folks who sell GPS's hadn't a clue about the Insignia GPS's and wern't even up to speed on some of the features. I asked about extending my subscription for the wireless connectivity and after about 15 Mins of them searching their website they referred me to the Geek's at the back of the store, more blank expressions and 'I know nothing' about Insignia GPS's. They referred me to 1-800-bestbuy, called them spent another 15 mins while the support peron looked up their systems and then she but me onto customer relations. After a while she was able to point me to a very hard to find link on the CNV-20 page which expalined how to get the upgrade.
However throughout the last twelve months no one was able to tell me where to get updated maps eventhough the documentation says they were to be made available 4 times a year so before i sign up for the new subscription I'd like to get the upgrade(s) I was entitled to last year...... Can someone send me a link?

I bought 3 units and never received map updates. Best Buy would not assist and when I phoned in to try and get the download information a Service Rep told me it would be an automatic over the air (OTAR) push. I should have known it sounded too good to be true.
There has got to be more viable options for map updates and I really don't understand why you can't download map updates yourself. I've had my units for just over a year now, so I know Best Buy won't provide the updates even if they have them. My CNV20 GPS' have always been a little sluggish. I wonder if it's because the software update has not occurred.
