Question 11: How do I check for software updates?

Warning: Back up your personal data before updating your tablet. Updates may delete your data.

  1. On the home screen, touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under SYSTEM, touch About tablet.

  4. Touch Check update or Check now.
    Tip: Touch ON or OFF to let your tablet automatically check for updates.
  5. If an update is available, your tablet displays the update version information. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

Question 12: What should I do if my tablet will not turn on?

  • Connect your tablet to the power adapter and make sure that the battery is fully charged. If the battery is too low, your tablet will not turn on until the battery is partially charged.

Question 13: What should I do if the screen froze on my tablet?

  • Press and hold Power-Symbol.jpg for 10 seconds to turn off your tablet, then turn it back on.

  • If your tablet has a reset hole (NS-15AT08 or NS-15AT10), use a paper clip to press it.

Question 14: How do I reset my tablet back to factory default settings?

Warning: Back up your personal data before resetting your tablet back to default settings. It will delete your data.

 

  1. Connect your tablet to a power outlet.
  2. On the home screen, touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  3. Under PERSONAL, touch Backup & reset.
  4. Touch Factory data reset, then Reset tablet.
  5. Wait for your tablet to reset, then go through the initial setup.

Question 15: How do I add additional users to my tablet?

If you have the 7” or 8” Wi-Fi tablet (NS-15AT07 or NS-15AT08) you can add additional user accounts or restricted profiles to your tablet. A user account has its own apps and content while a restricted profile lets you restrict access to apps and content from your account. The 10” tablet (NS-15AT10) does not currently support additional users.

To create a new user account:

  1. Touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under DEVICE, touch Users.

  3. Under USERS & PROFILES touch Add user or profile.

  4. Touch User to add a new user account.

  5. Read then message, then touch OK.
  6. Touch Set up now to set up the new account now, then follow the on-screen instructions.
    OR
    Touch Not now to set up the account later. Select the new account from the lock screen, then unlock the tablet when you are ready.

 

To create a restricted profile:

Note: You must set up a personal screen lock before creating a restricted profile. See Question 17 for instructions.

  1. Touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under DEVICE, touch Users.

  3. Under USERS & PROFILES touch Add user or profile.

  4. Touch Restricted profile to create a new profile with restricted access to your apps and content.
  5. (Optional) If you are prompted to set your lock screen, touch Set lock. The Unlock menu opens and you can set a Pattern, PIN, or Password lock.

  6. To name the profile, touch the new profile, use the keyboard to enter the name, then touch OK.

  7. Find the apps you want to give the restricted profile access to, then touch the slider bar to turn them ON Icon_on.png.
    Note: If HPROF is an option, you must turn it on to allow the home screen to function.

  8. To open the restricted profile and complete setup, select the profile from the lock screen, then unlock the tablet.
    Note: You may need to agree to terms and conditions to use your apps on the new profile.

Question 17: How do I adjust my system sounds?

Change default volume levels

  1. Touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under DEVICE, touch Sound, then Volumes.
  3. Drag the sliders to adjust the volume levels, then touch OK.

Select the notification sound

  1. Touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under DEVICE, touch Sound.
  3. Touch Default notification sound.
  4. Touch a sound name to hear and select it, then touch OK.

Turn the keyboard sound on or off

  1. Touch Icon_app.png, then Icon_Settings.png Settings.
  2. Under PERSONAL, touch Language & input.
  3. Under KEYBOARD & INPUT METHODS, touch Default, then Set up input methods.
  4. Next to Google Keyboard, touch Icon_keyboard settings.gif (settings).
  5. Check (turn sounds on) or uncheck (turn sounds off) the box next to Sound on keypress.
