Insignia - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB will it be upgradable to Nougat android 7 when released?

I was wondering if about tablet and system updates will be able to upgrade this tablet from android 6.0.1 to android 7 when it more used by tablets, the reason I think it could be upgraded, is that I have an old samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 they upgraded that android from android 3.5 to android 4.0.4 , with samsung kies software its an old tablet has both boot manager and download built in feature I don't no if they new tablet can be upgraded by insignia or they plan to make it upgradable to the new android 7 which I hear from reading online its like android 6.0.1 but with a few more features in the os itself.

so I would think that the firmware could be an upgrade system path from  android 6.0.1 to android 7, that may also fix the app problems or create all new problems for this model since I am not sure if they plan on letting users upgrade this tablets software or not? will their be some sort of firmware upgrade from android 6 to android 7? in the next few years? or sooner?

Re: Insignia - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB will it be upgradable to Nougat android 7 when released?

Hello maximalprime4

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

Answering your main concern, I was able to get in touch with out product developers to inquiry about this matter, according to the provided information it seems that our android tablets work with a self updating program, meaning it will not possible to download just the patch and then install it to the tablet since it has to be updated directly from its adjustments. While reviewing all of the information regarding our tablets, I was able to locate the steps to follow to verify directly from the tablet if an update is available.

Please follow the next set of instructions:

1. Tap on the applications icon.
2. Search and tap the Settings icon.
3. Search for the About Tablet option and tap it.
4. Tap Update > Check update. If an update is available, your tablet displays the update version information.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

Best,

When I click on Update, it Reads Please press button to check online.

Perform periodic check for OTA update?

that setting is on

then clicking Check update

Connecting to server, then it reads checking, please wait

Then it reads this text

Check failed! Please check your network!

I guess that means their no updates for model build NS-P10A700 , we have an linksys router , this hardware only reads the 2.4Ghz connection, and can't read the 5Ghz linksys router connect, my old galaxy tablet could connect to the 5Ghz connection, we have HughesNet  internet provider, so its connecting to the linksys router then the HughesNet  internet provider at home.

the google play updates software fine besides the fact that the update for google text to speech 4.0 breaks the english UK voice data pack since once its installed theirs no sound, so the google text to speech 4.0 must be unistall besides the problem I had with google now app, too having sound popping noise when ok google settings are turn on problem. otherwise I have not noticed any other problems with the apps on this android, besides you can't install ivona text to speech on android 6.0.1 thats the only other thing I found out with the new android system.

 Unfortunately, Update has stopped.   OK

below is information about how we connect to the internet at home we are in an rural area of redding.

no updates for model build NS-P10A7100 , since it gets that message that reads

I made correct to build number information, but I felt I needed to reply back to these two other messages about the apps problems since their is no new OTA update that I can tell, I think that message on Check failed! Please check your network! means their no new updates, if their is my tablet will not connect to them then otherwise I don't think theirs been any patches for android 6.0.1 on my tablet again our internet is hughesnet and we are in an rural area, so the internet works for browing the web and updating apps with google play, so I am guessing if their was an OTA update that it should of been downloadable too.

Re: Insignia - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB will it be upgradable to Nougat android 7 when released?

I am having the same issues with the update screen.  The touch screen freezes at times or slow to respond.  Internet connection drops while  all other devices don't drop.  Is there a WiFi adapter update available?

Thank you

Re: Insignia - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB will it be upgradable to Nougat android 7 when released?

John,

I replied to you in another thread with similar issues but never got a response. This tablet appears to be set up incorrectly as it appears to have cellular phone options.  First it refers to OTA (over the air) updates which is a mobile term. Also this tablet has an "airplane mode" option. Why? Its not transmitting any information.

The error she trying to update Android OS refers to checking your network.... Its referring to a cellular network.

Please urge Insignia to offer a stand alone update to fix this and a host of other problems with this tablet. I upgraded from the older version of the 10.5" tablet (white) in hope that it had more features. It not only has fewer features (I.e., no HDMI port), but has sound problems (returned one because I thought it was defective only to find the replacement just as bad).

Please update this tablet and please respond to my post.

Thanks,

Jeffrey S.

Also, the tablet is reporting the wrong OS Version. When I try to get Netflix at the play store, I'm told that it it not compatible with the android version on my device that I should have 4.4.0 or higher!

I had to download an old version of Netflix from their website in order to watch it.

The manufacturer needs to clear up these major bugs. I know its a cheap tablet, but this is ridiculous!

Re: Insignia - 10.1" - Tablet - 32GB will it be upgradable to Nougat android 7 when released?

Nobody has replied to my concern about the fact that the Insignia 10.1" 32GB tablet (black) has the wrong setup for updates.  When you attempt to update the system, it says "no network connection" please check your settings.  This is after I confirmed that it IS connected to my home wifi network.  This is the type of message that you get on uipdating a phone..... IN ADDITION, the update screen turns to portrait no matter than whatever position the tablet is in which leads me to believe that it IS trying to update a PHONE rather than a WIFI tablet.
