Is there a way to get these to work together? I went to the (new) download page for its drivers (which list W7 among the OSs) but I couldn't install them ("unable to" for some reason, tried twice).
The headphones are paired and connected, and selected as the default device in the Sound control panel, but I don't get any sound.

I have also been dealing with the same problem for about 6 months on both Vista and Windows 7.
Initially, on a couple different Windows Vista computers the drivers the came on the disk worked great.
Then they stopped working so I tried uninstalled them and tried to use the current driver from Broadcom (I've misplaced the CD), however the Broadcom install would not complete on two different Vista SP1 machines. It would fail their "Validating Device" step.
However, I've replaced those computers and trying to still get this headset to work. On Windows 7 the latest Broadcom installation still behaves the same way. I've tried all of the compatibility modes oth as administrator and not, the only difference is that somtimes it can't detect the dongle at all in some of modes and so the installation fails earlier
Lets try to get this fixed, eh? I bought these thinking "Meh, Insignia? I guess I'll try them since it's hard to find other bluetooth stereo headphones." Then I was thoroughly surprised. Now I've been disappointed for the last 6 months...

REL Listener2454,
When downloading the Windows 7 driver you must choose the save to disk option and then run it from there. If you choose the run option it will not load!

I've tried that too--it can't perform the upgrade.
I uploaded a screen capture with the (error) message (the headphones are turned on and connected at the time):

RE: listener2454,
That error message is telling you that the Bluetooth in your computer does not have a Broadcom ID. If you use the Bluetooth adapter that came with the headset you must first turn off the internal Bluetooth. The other option is to download the updated driver from the HP site.

Ok, how about when I get the exact same error, on 4 different desktops, with no other bluetooth? If the provided dongle cannot function as it was designed then what is the solution here? If the problem was restricted to a certain OS then I wouldn't feel so shafted, but at this point I certainly feel shafted on this purchase.
Also, was a good boy and followed instructions at the time of download and I used the save to disk option...

RE: rleikis,
The product in question was tested with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Seven. It work with all of them. You may have a bad piece of hardware. It happens to the best of us.

So, it worked for two months then suddenly stopped working at a time that coincided with a service pack? Fascinating product stability. I'm not saying that a sudden failure could not have occurred, but using the Microsoft stack every other bluetooth device I use can be connected. However, without the Broadcom stack no services can be resolved. I'm quite sure its not a dead dongle unless you have record of partial failures.
I am a professional software/hardware tester where I am constantly working with driver/OS compatibility! I'd at very least like to think I understand whats going on here since it's what I do. Being that the case I'd appreciate it if we can bring the discussion here to a higher level, unless you are somehow restricted to do so. I mean no disrespect, and I apologize if I come off that way, but I am actually trying to get advanced support with a workaround or replacement. I really like this product! You are talking to someone that knows more than enough to work on the problem.
If there is no chance of additional troubleshooting or a workaround, then I'd expect your post to be giving me instructions for an RMA not saying, "Shucks! Oh darn..." So, what's the deal, where are we going with this?
Here is the device state as it stands, perhpas something will stick out. http://i45.tinypic.com/120rqtf.jpg

I wasn't using the adapter when I got that first message.
*With* the adapter in and trying to install the updater I receive the following error message (it hangs at this point):
