Universal File Transfer Cable

Plugged cable into both computers and am only showing the 'Local Host' on the window.  I asked the associate who helped me find this product if I needed a monitor for the old computer, and was told no.  Will I have to get the monitor, keyboard and mouse to install the product onto my old computer first before being able to transfer files between my two computers?  OR is there something else not working?  I've checked other message boards already, and I'm pretty sure I'm transferring from 32-bit to 32-bit, however, I am not a whiz with computers, just have general knowledge.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello mattwefel11,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

You will need to start the software on each computer, so it will require a mouse and monitor. You should be able to start the older system, and then switch the monitor and mouse to the newer computer and then use the newer computer to designate the files you want transferred.

Re: Universal File Transfer Cable

I also have a problem with my cable. Launching the software works fine on both computers ( one Vista, one Windows 8.1) the problem here is that there is no way to actually send the files from one computer to another. When the software first launchs the arrows for transfer are lit up but then they go out. What's going on here?

Hello ad6sj,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

When loading up the program, is the Vista software starting automatically or are you having to start it up manually?

Re: Universal File Transfer Cable

I am trying to transfer files from an old laptop to a new one. Both are running Windows 10. On have chosen the files to be transfered within the file transfer window on the Local Host laptop (old laptop). They show up in the software window on both laptops. BUT when I look for those files through 'My Documents" (for example) nothing is there. Is there a file step I am missing?
