Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

Hello ramsep,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

Do you have an active wifi network that it can connect to?  It's not detecting a network in the area.  It will give you a list to the right of all available networks in the area and right now there is no wifi network in range.

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

I am having this same issue.

Tablet was put online to update apps and at the end of the process the nect time it was powered on it will say "starting wifi" but never goes any further.  I did a master reset (big mistake as the apps are now all gone) and it made no difference.

There are three networks int eh building and it detects nothing.

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

Hello beevo,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

Has this been happening since the Tablet was first set up, or is it something that has just recently started? If it started recently, is it something that got worse gradually, or just one day would not connect?

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

It was a sudden event, never had any issues with it in the past.

I rarely put the tablet online, maybe once a week at best.  After it did a bunch of updates, the next time it was started up the wifi would not work.

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

Hello beevo,

Sorry about the delayed reply.

It sounds like the update may have changed the wifi software.

If resetting it to the factory defaults did not fix it, try calling into our contact center at 877-467-4289 to do additional troubleshooting on the tablet.

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

I Had called the contact center once I had determined that the update is likely the culprit for the sudden loss of WiFi.  They had me do a master reset, which:

1)  did not fix the problem

2) rendered the unit useless to me even in an offline state.

They basically said:

1) it's broke

2) can't be fixed unless I had bought the extended warranty

So, here I sit with a device that can't be used and support incorrectly thinks that it is broken.  I mean what ARE the chances that the WiFi hardware died upon restart after a software upgrade?  Me thinks they are pretty slim chances.

Any thoughts on where to go from here, or should I throw it in the trash, take this as a lesson learned with buying a Best Buy device and move on?

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

No they did not....

I got disgusted with it and threw it on a shelf with the intention to dump it on eBay at some point.

I pulled it off the shelf about 6 months later and found it was dead. Charged it up and suddenly it started working and has done so since.  I relegated it to being an electronic cookbook.

My suggestion, put it on a shelf and let the battery go dead....    Smiley Very Happy

Re: insignia flex 10.1- cant get WiFi working need help

I encountered the same problem after the windows update. Resolution is the need to update the driver for the wifi device. I used a Cat5 to USB adapter to access the internet. The connection from the router to the USB port allowed for access. Once connected I went to the Device Manager, found the wifi device and selected the "update Driver from the internet" and 5 minutes later the after installing the new driver the wifi worked. The adapters are less then 15 dollars.
