I am trying to program my Brighthouse Cable remote control ( model #, Atlas DVR1056BC) to control my new Insignia receiver (HTIB51A). Insignia is not listed in the Brighthouse remote control manual (all codes listed are 4 digits) and the automatic "code search" feature on the remote does not find an acceptable code. I have called my cable company as well as Best Buy and both said to contact the manufacturer of the home theatre system. A label on the outside of the box that the Insignia HTS came in says "Made in Malaysia". I purchased the system a little over 2 weeks ago and am very pleased for the most part with its performance. I can control my TV and of course my cable box with the Brighthouse remote, only the receiver will not work. It would be nice if I didn't have to use 2 remotes. I can't tell you how many different codes I have tried to no avail. If you need to see a picture of the remote Brighthouse uses, please click on the link below. The cable box is made by Scientific Atlanta. Thank you for your help.

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
In regards to your concern, let me tell you that I have researched about a code to program your DVR1056BC remote to control the NS-HTIB51A, and was able to find the following ones:
0189, 0321, 0857, 1077, 1293, 1517, 1653.
In case any of them work, you should bear in mind that your remote control has a "Searching Code" feature. So, you should be able to set the remote to control the System in this way.
If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!

Thank you for getting back to me. I tried all of the codes that you supplied, none of them worked. I had already called my cable company (Brighthouse) about the "code search" feature on the remote before I contacted you the first time. This feature tries codes that are stored in its "library". After attempting to do this close to 300 times unsuccessfully, the cable company said to contact the manufacturer of the audio system for a 4 digit code that would work. I have been able to program the remote that came with the Insignia system to turn the cable box on & off, as well as, change channels but most of the other features (guide, on demand, info, last channel, etc.) that I can control with the cable remote do not work or are just not available with the Insignia remote. Thus, I still have to use 2 remotes. It seems to me if I can program the Insignia remote to turn the cable box on/off, I should be able to program the cable remote to turn the receiver on/off and control the volume which is all I really need it to do. Do you have any other suggestions or do I return the HTS to Best Buy and purchase another brand that will be able to be programmed with the cable remote? I have never had so much trouble doing something like this that should be relatively simple. I look forward to your reply.

In the event that the codes we provide do not work, your alternative is the scan or learning feature. Please note that not all universal remote controls are compatible with every device, and even if they are, they may not allow access to advanced features. Also bear in mind that you are comparing remote controls by two different manufacturers that may be programmed with different code sets. That's why, while the Insignia remote may control your cable box, the cable remote may not control your home theater system.
In situations where you wish to use only one universal remote for multiple devices and their advanced functions, a higher end model may be necessary.
