Getting NS-40DR420NA16 to play audio from Mac?

Hello,

I recently purchased the NS-40DR420NA16. Can you tell me what wire I need and how to connect it so I can get sound from my Mac? The Mac is from 2008 and is running Yosemite version 10.10.5.

Thank you very much,

Gillian

NS-40DR420NA16 audio cuts out and then freezes. Need to restart.

Hi,

I've had a NS-40DR420NA16 Roku TV for only two weeks and since the day I got it it's been periodically freezing. Sometimes the audio and picture freeze at the same time. Other times the volume goes out and then soon after the picture freezes too. The only thing that fixes it is getting up and unplugging and replugging the power.

Can you help me with this?

Thank you,

Gillian

Hello GillianSmith,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

The only connection type that will allow you to connect a computer is the HDMI connection. Connecting it to your mac will depend on what connections your mac has. If your mac does not have an HDMI output, it may have a display port that you can use an adapter with to connect to the TV. One thing to check though is if your mac can output sound over the display port as I know older macs cannot do so but I am not sure when that cutoff is.

Re: NS-40DR420NA16 audio cuts out and then freezes. Need to restart.

Hello GillianSmith,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

What are you watching when this happens? Does it happen in a certain app or with a certain device that you have connected? Once it is  frozen, can you press the home button to get back to the home screen?

On the back of the TV, near the ports, there is a reset button. Press and hold that button for a few seconds to reset the TV. Once it is reset you will need to go through the initial setup. Once you are setup and watching, does it still freeze?

Do you know exactly when and where the TV was purchased? Do you still have the receipt?
