Re: NS-R5101HD Flashing HDMI Picture

Passthrough works for me, but then of course I don't get 5.1 sound.  I also get similar symptoms if I pass the signal through and try to force the HD signals through to the tv speakers.  I'm going to try some other ideas I have, if anything works I'll post it.

Nothing else seems to work.  Perhaps it's a compatability issue.  Looks like this receiver is going back to the store...

Re: NS-R5101HD Flashing HDMI Picture-new issue

I have the same issue as well. Same model of receiver, NS-R5101HD. Did anyone resolve this issue or should I return the receiver?

Insignia- I don't see any instructions on setting the resolution output on the receiver. Are you saying the only solution is to call the cable company and have them manually set the cable box? What do I do if that doesn't work?

Hello rgfox,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

To my understanding, the video signal will pass through the receiver and there is not a means to adjust the resolution through it.  You should be able to reset the resolution on the cable box without calling your cable company.  Instructions should be included in the box manual.  If you don't have a manual, one should be available for download on the manufacturer's website or through your cable company.  If you're still unable to resolve the issue after making adjustments to your cable box, please let us know.

Regards,
John

Re: NS-R5101HD Flashing HDMI Picture-new issue

A rep at bestbuy told me this receiver is not compatable with the PS3 through HDMI connection.  Sure, you could try component cables for your picture and an optical cable for sound, but I didn't spend a bunch of money on blu-ray devices not to get HD sound.  This receiver belongs on the bestbuy shelf collecting dust.

Re: NS-R5101HD Flashing HDMI Picture-new issue

Just thought to come back and post an update. Because I was lazy, I didn't return the receiver, so have lived with the optical and hdmi connections from my dish box. For other reasons I had my dish receiver replaced with the same model and I tried hooking up hdmi only through the stereo receiver and viola... no more flashing picture. All settings are the same and nothing changed other than the dish receiver, so I am left to assume that either my dish box was defective or one of the software updates to the dish box fixed the issue.

I have been pleased overall with the Insignia receiver. If I could read the remote's labels I'd be totally pleased but a universal remote has taken care of that issue.
