Re: Remote Control Codes for Home Audio

Hello again Andrew (rewbear),

The codes provided should work, but we cannot guarantee that they will. The only remote guaranteed to work is the Insignia remote. Since the codes provided did not work, your remaining option is to use your universal remote control's code search feature to find a working code.

Re: DirecTV codes?

Hello Joan,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

The instructions for the 'PCM' setting refers to the audio output on the Toshiba TV.  The setting changes what format the TV sends the audio out to the sound bar from a surround sound signal to the stereo signal.  I would suggest consulting the Toshibia's manual on how to change its digital output settings.

Programming the Direct TV remote will have nothing to do with getting the sound bar to produce audio.  Once the sound bar is actually working you can try and program the Direct TV remote to control the power and volume of the sound bar.  To do this you will want to set the Direct TV remote mode selector over to one of the Aux modes and then follow the code search feature instructions below:

Follow these steps to scan for additional Aux codes using your DIRECTV remote:

1) Slide the MODE switch on your remote control all the way to the right to the Aux position.
2) Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons at the same time until the green light at the top of your remote flashes twice, then release both buttons.
3) Using the number buttons, enter 9-9-1. The green light on your remote should flash twice.
4) Aim the remote at your TV and press CHAN/PAGE UP button. Tap the CHAN/PAGE UP button repeatedly until the TV powers off.
5) When the TV powers off, press and release the SELECT button.
Note: If the green light flashes three times before your TV responds, then all codes have been cycled through. Our remote controls are guaranteed to program to your DIRECTV receiver, but your TV may not be compatible with our remote control.

Re: DirecTV codes?

NO, your remote is not compatible with my Toshiba.  I'm really tired of trying to make this device work and I've lost patience with it.  It has power when I press the power button but that's as far as it goes as to responding to any thing I try to do.  I will return it today for a full refund at BestBuy.

Sound bar remote codes

Hello all,

I was hoping to find some way to control the Insignia NS-SBAR-A sound bar with a silver Comcast remote with a red OK/Select button.  I've looked all through these topics and can't find anyone asking the same quesiton.

Re: Remote Control Codes for Home Audio

Hello rmstokes,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

Have you tried using the code search feature of the DirecTV remotoes called StepNSet yet? If not, give this a try by following these steps:

StepNSet

  1. Set the "Mode Switch" to the desired mode.
  2. Press and hold the "Mute" button and the "Select" button until the visible LED blinks twice.
  3. Enter the code "991" followed by the "device number"

       1 for Televisions

2 for "AUX 1" devices - VCRs or DVDs

       3 for "AUX 2" devices - Audio

4. You can step through the setup codes for this mode by pressing the "Channel Up" key to go forward through the codes or pressing the "Channel Down" key to go back to the previous codes.

5. You can try out each code by pressing one or more function keys such as power, volume or digit keys.

6. When you've found the setup code that works for your device, press the "Select" key.

If you still encounter issues afterwards, post back and let us know, so we can further troubleshoot your situation.

Justin
