I just bought an Insignia TV and sound bar. I have Cox DVR cable. The sound bar comes with this tiny remote, I just know is going to get lost.
I tried to program The Cox remote with The soundbar codes given by Cox, they don't work. I called Best Buy, they said The sound bar cannot be controlled with a universal remote. Has anyone been able to program The soundbar to be controlled by a universal remote?

Does your universal remote have a "Learning" feature? This allows your universal remote to copy the exact signal being sent from the original remote and map it to a specific button on the universal remote. For example, you could set it to when you are using the "Aux" device with your universal remote and you press the volume up button, it turns the volume up on the sound bar.
If you provide me with your remote's model number, I can check to see if it supports this feature and give you instructions if they are available.

Unfortunately without a learning feature, I cannot guarantee that the remote will control the sound bar. The only other option that you have is using the code search feature. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

For most remotes that have a learning feature, the original remote would need to be present. Some remotes will have a "code search" function that will permit you to go thru the full code library built into the remote to see if there may be a compatible code. What is the Sound Bar model # you are working with?
