I really like this player and recommend it. I specifically purchased it for the Netflix feature and the price vs capability. I am extremely happy with the quality of the Netflix video and the ease of use.
The one thing I would like to see is a separate Audio mode setting for Netflix vs DVD/Blu-Ray. Netflix is in stereo, but Dolby Pro-Logic encoded.
I am using the TOSLINK. My receiver supports DTS-ES. I LOVE that this player tends to default to outputting DTS-ES when using mixed bitstream (legacy). But with this audio mode selected, and using Netflix I get a DTS-ES output with just the 2 front channels. Since it is DTS-ES encoded, the receiver will not attempt to decode Pro-Logic out of those 2 channels and it is ONLY stereo. i.e. no surround at all.
So right now I must switch back to PCM output when watching Netflix to get Pro-Logic decoding in the receiver, and Bitstream Mixed to get Dolby Digital/DTS for DVD/Blu-Ray.
It would be nice if the player did this switch automatically (or internally decoded Pro-Logic prior to encoding DTS-ES output).
You also may want to add the option to select DTS-ES or Dolby Digital EX encoding for the output format when transcoding. Not all receivers support DTS.
I would be perfectly satisfied if everything was internally decoded/transcoded to DTS-ES! Especially the "EX" of Dolby Digital since my receiver doesn't support the EX decoding. The more decoding options you put into the player, the better!
Keep up the good work! Encouraging enthusiasts is something I like to see in a support forum!
