We're taking a step back and looking at how our on screen menus and user interface function and look.  This is where our users come in.  We're looking for your feedback regarding the menus you see on your Insignia™ TV.

Here are some thought provoking questions to get you started:

• Are the menus easy to read from the standard viewing distance?
• Do the colors work well together?
• Do you feel the functionality of the menus match the product?
• Is there something missing that you would like to see in a menu?
• How does it compare to another device's on screen menu?

The font size could be larger. My BRDVD3 is connected to a 4:3 analog tv. Perhaps those using large lcd flatscreen HDTVs aren't having problems...So that critique is clouded by not knowing how the fonts look on a 'grown up' digital display. 

The color scheme is very slick, with the blue display screen looking cool.

Menus...Viewing files on a USB stick is challenging. Again the smallness of the fonts makes seeing the names of the video files hard to read. And the files are listed alphabetically, rather than by time added to the drive, a minor nuisance.  Jpegs are nicely displayed via thumbnails, it would be nice if video files could be treated the same, with a thumbnail page.

Functionality... Again with USB flash drives, too much clicking to get to a video file. I'd like to arrow to the file and click to play immediately, rather than click to another tab with Playlist and Play File, then having to arrow down to select play file. Unnecessarily complicated. 

For the moment, that's what immediately comes to mind.

I think the menu is fine for the most part.  I like that I can change the transparency of the menu (I have mine set to be almost as transparent as it can be).  But there are two things that I REALLY wish were different:

1. When adjusting the volume up or down, I wish the menu that came up was smaller and less obtrusive.  We really don't need that huge menu to pop up just to adjust the volume!
2. It would be nice if it were possible to change the position of the menu.  For instance, there are times that I wish I could move it to the bottom left corner, bottom center, or bottom right corner of the screen instead of having it right in the middle of the picture!

Are the menus easy to read from the standard viewing distance? They could be 2 font sizes bigger

Do the colors work well together? I think so, The transparantcy of the menus is a plus. i have had other tvs & VCRs in the pase that the menu was nothing but white lettering with a blue background filling the entire screen & you could only navagate using the number pad.

Do you feel the functionality of the menus match the product? mostly yes, other that the volume issue below i Like the  menus & navagation of them.

 Is there something missing that you would like to see in a menu? To be honest yes, I dislike the on screen volume display. It is too big as well as in the middle of the screen &  displays information not necessary to the volume function.. I fell the need for a few user changeable options with this.

1. Invisible: No on screen display but volume adjust as normal.

 2. When in 4.3 mode volume can be displayed vertically in the left Black bar 0 is at the bottom while Max is at the top.

 3. Zoom, Wide,Cinema: volume is in the lower left corner No border nothing but the volume meter as to minimize the size. ( availability to adjust the size of the volume meter would be a plus. Come to think of it why not the main menu's as well independently of the volume menu)

How does it compare to another device's on screen menu? other that the older devices above Compared to a LG TV  it is an improvement LG menus i found difficult to navigate as well as do the simplest of functions (For the First time user) such as change aspect or input.

 this may not be the place but i fell the remote could be improved on as well The Volume key could still work on the TV when the remote is in DVD mode That would be great along with a selectable on/off back light

I have a small 19 inch LED LCD TV.    The small is for my bedroom.    most TVs have easy access to sleep timer.    one button press for 120 minutes or so and minus 15 minutes for every press after that.      Your menu system of sleep timer is about the worst I have ever dealt with from the human factors standpoint.   

Let us program a button or two from the menu and or make our own macros.    this is easily done from your on screen menu system.
