So we just got word that Best Buy has teamed up with TiVo Inc. to put intuitive online content accessing software into new broadband-connected Insignia televisions! How cool is that? Basically, you’ll be able to access a ton of online content, like on-demand streaming movies from sites like Netflix, CinemaNow, Amazon on Demand or Blockbuster on Demand, music from sites like Pandora or Rhapsody and photos from sites like Photobucket and Picasa. All in the Hi-definition quality of an Insignia Advanced Series television! All without hooking up an extra box or messing with more than one remote! And while it doesn't have the DVR recording capabilities of the TiVo box, it gives you direct access to all of your video-on-demand offerings so you can easily watch what you want when you want it.
But enough from me. Fernando Silva, VP of Best Buy Exclusive Brands, sums it up best:
“Consumers tell us they want the best of Internet-based content delivered right to their televisions without the hassle of having to fumble with multiple devices, wires, and remotes. The beauty of TiVo software is that it creates a single interactive interface right on the television and integrates the myriad of online content and services.”
We’ll definitely let you know when the TVs hit store shelves. In the meantime, what online content are you most excited to access with the TiVo-enhanced Insignia HDTV? Let us know below!
