Better alarm clock functions...

Can we get an update that included better alarm clock functionality. Dual/multiple alarms, wake to music, snooze to music etc.?

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

A regular chumby has a much more better set of alarm features. How about just adding that feature to the infocast? Specifically I want the ability to schedule: a) when to dim the screen (as in, night time mode) b) when to wake the screen c) change to a specific channel A regular chumby can do this already, I have several doing it right now. It's the single reason I'm not recommending the infocast to others, nor buying more for us. If it had the feature I'd go out and buy at least 4 of them right now.

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

I'm not as interested in specific alarm actions, as much as the generic alarm functions already present in the chumby. It would be best to have that full feature set instead of just one or two. While I might like alarms for dim/wake, others want the radio, channels and other things. Go for all of it, not just part of it.

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

every feature comes at a cost - so it is better to prioritize.  Just because it is available for the Chumby One doesn't make it a slam dunk for the Infocast (otherwise, they'd already be there ...)

thanks,

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

Here's the cost then, no sales due to the classic "why does it suck at being an alarm clock" argument. With multiple alarms people can do simple things like have it switch channels at certain times. Like to show a set of channels better geared for a particular time of day (weather and traffic updates before leaving work, etc). Or a fundamentally simple thing like just dim the screen at night and wake up again the next morning. With all the noise lately about 'going green' it's a glaring flaw to not have the ability to at least appear to turn off by dimming the screen. The box sits there with it's screen constantly lit. You have to manually hit the button to kill it. Not exactly ideal for a device that's supposed to be largely passive most of the time. Made even worse by not being able to automatically resume where it left off when powered back up again. Really, is this a point worth arguing against? Especially when it has already been proven as a workable solution, with the programming already done, on the other chumby devices? Yes, some degree of additional development and testing is going to be needed, but nowhere near as much as creating something from scratch. Pony up the money and get chumby to implement the feature. Or suffer more lost sales. Especially the more cost-effective ones like referrals.

@wkearney99

Your right on the money. The better alarm clock functions will greatly improve the usefulness and therefore potential sales of the 8"

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

Glad to see that there are others besides me who would like the alarm feature to be improved.  Personally, I'd be happy with just the multiple alarms, but the other features brought up in this thread sound useful as well.

Not sure if this will help or not, but voting for this feature in the ideas engine might show the devs that there is interest:  http://community.insigniaproducts.com/t5/Insignia-Ideas-Engine/INFOCAST-ALARMS/idi-p/18579

Re: Better alarm clock functions...

I just purchased this as a gift... good thing I thought to open in and make sure it could be used for the distinct purpose that I bought it.  AN ALARM CLOCK !!!!!!!!

I thought I could set an alarm, turn the volume down on the alarm beep, set the alarm to play a channel that had pandora only in it.... but I can't seem to make that happen.

HELP HELP... I have to be able to fix this -- or back to best buy it goes.
