Hello All,
I apologize if this question has already been asked. If it has, then point me in the right direction.
I recently bought an Ethernet Adapter and hooked it up to my Infocast 3.5" and then hooked the Ethernet Adapter to some Cat5 cable, and finally back to my router. I rebooted my Infocast and went to network settings.
I chose create a new connection, hit okay, and very quickly saw scanning adapters, then it goes to scanning wireless networks. Could it be that the Ethernet Adapter I bought was one the Infocast does not like?
The firmware on the Infocast is 2.8.73. The Ethernet Adapter that I am attempting to use is a KY-RS9600. On the Ethernet Adapter I do have a steady red connection light. I checked the Chumby "Tested USB Ethernet Adapters" webpage and it appears that the adapter is not on it. The page also says though that if it is not on the list it still may work.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Guy

Hello guy223,
Who is the manufacturer of the KY-RS9600?

Not sure what chip is in your USB ethernet adapter, but only certain chipsets are supported
with device drivers in the kernel. I can verify that the D-Link DUB-E100 adpater works (since
it uses the ASIX AX88772 chip). Sometimes the manufacturer will change the hardware in
different revisions of the same model (v1.2, v2.0, etc.), so it's useful to know which chip it
actually contains.
Good luck.
