I guess the only way for me to feel some sort of justification about how my recent insignia purchases have gone will have to end with these postings. I am a carrier firefighter and have been in the fire service for 9 years, one main topic that gets driven into your head through years of training is "failure is not an option"! If the fire service has an issue with failure somebody either gets severely hurt or dies. I truly believe if someone is properly trained then the failure rate drops significantly. This does not seem to be the case with insignia products, I purchased a NS-LCD52HD in 2009 along with a NS-LCD32 that followed a week later. Now the NS-LCD32 died last month and I kick myself for not buying a extended warranty, well guess what happened last week my NS-lcd52 died, luckily I bought an extended warrenty but I am still awaiting geek squad to order parts and fix the TV. If you combine the total paid for both items including the warrenty for the second TV it comes out to $1,484.00 for the NSA-LCD52.and $564.99 for the 32" totaling $2,048.99. I understand every item they manufacture wont be free from defects 100% of the time but 2 TV's crap out in the same time frame, that seems to show me how their company works. So as we speak my $564.99 is gone with nothing to show for it and my living room wall is bare through the holidays, why may you ask, it's because my 52" is sitting in my office awaiting repair, what a Christmas, guess I will miss that 24 hour Christmas story marathon. I just have one more thing to say, why is it I can take a thermal image camera into a burning building, get it hot, get it wet, have it still work, it even has a 6 year replacement warranty but 2 TV's that hangs on a wall, inside in a climate controlled, dry area die in 2 years. I know doesn't make sense. Well I know 1 thing when our fire department starts replacing TV's in our stations I know what WON'T be hanging on the wall and that's INSIGNIA.
Disgruntled @ Christmas

I understand completely. Our GE washer ($1000 Adora washer) is dying after 2 years and it's 100% crap, just like most of the products available for the end-user. I'm 49 and can remember when products were made to last, but not any more...
