Bluetooth Portable Speaker NS-CSPBTHOL-R

Hello

This is regarding the Bluetooth Portable Speaker model NS-CSPBTHOL-R.

Last week I was listening to an audio book on my android tablet paired with this speaker in my car.  Suddenly, the sound cut out.  This speaker pretty much lives in my car, although the few times I've taken it to other locations with my tablet, it's worked great.  I keep it plugged into the car adapter charger.  I thought the plug had gotten loose and the speaker needed to be charged.  When I plugged it in at home, the back red light was blinking, so I figured lack of power was the problem.

The speaker hasn't worked since, even with a full charge.

My tablet's speakers and sound programs are working.  I can listen to the audio book and music on the tablet.  The tablet and the speaker pair together without problem. However, when I start the audio book or music when they're paired, no sound comes out of the speaker or out of the tablet.  I've pushed the plus button several times and held it down for several seconds to no avail.  I've also pushed the phone button a few times, thinking that could be the problem.  I have to turn off the speaker and let it unpair in order to get sound from the tablet.

I've consulted the manual and seached for answers, including this site, with no luck.  I have a feeling it's just plain broken, which is a shame since I've only owned it for three months.

I also own an Insignia speaker NS-SPBTBRICK-C that I keep in my home.  Is this speaker tough enough to be used in a car?

Hello SLOVicto,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

We would like to get the NS-CSPBTHOL-R into the store for warranty evaluation. You will need to take the product and receipt into Best Buy, to the Geek Squad counter, for warranty evaluation.

With the first speaker you were using in your car, were you powering the speaker in the car? Or would you charge it at home? They are designed to be charged with the provided cord in a computer USB port or wall adapter in your home. Using the NS-SPBTBRICK-C in your car will not be an issue.

Ryan

Thanks for getting back to me so fast.  I'll try to find the receipt.  Yes, I usually charged the speaker in my car.  I've been using the NS-SPBTBRICK-C in my house.  I should not be charging either of these speakers using the car adapter, then?

Hello SLOVicto,

Thank you for responding!

After looking into a few things, you will be fine to charge this in the car as long as you use the provided power cable in a USB port/charger in the car.

Re: Bluetooth Portable Speaker NS-CSPBTHOL-R

I just remembered that I switched the cables between the two Insignia ones.  The one that came with "BRICK" was too short for my needs in my home while the cable for NS-CSPBTHOL-R was just right.  I thought I could use the shorter one (that came with "BRICK") in my car with NS-CSPBTHOL-R since I didn't need a long cord.  Perhaps that's where I made my mistake?

Hello SLOVicto,

Thank you for responding!

No, the speakers use the same voltage so the cables would be interchangable.
