Hey all, I found my old Pilot 4gb in my drawer, and needing an mp3, decided to charge it up. Plugged it into my laptop and it tries to install a driver, but finds nothing. I left it connected to my laptop for a half hour then tried to turn it on. It won't turn on and there is no charging light. Completely dark. My laptop still detects it though as an Unknown Device. I went to the software and drivers support page for the NS-4v24 but the driver there asks for Windows 98. I'm running Windows 7 right now. I tried running the driver in compatibility mode for Win 98, installs and asks my computer to restart. I oblige, but once my computer starts back up, the Pilot is still labeled as an Unknown Device. So I have a driver problem AND my player won't turn on connected or otherwise, even though its still detected on my computer. I'm thinking I need a driver before my Pilot will respond. Is there a solution?

Hello ThoughtfulAnon,
Unfortunately, I do not believe that this is a driver related issue. My reason for this is due to the fact that you have plugged it in and it is not charging, charging should occur any time the player is connected to a USB cable connected to a computer. You might try using a different USB cable or a different USB port, however if it is not charging or turning on, the device is probably non-functional.

Thank you for the reply. I did lose hope as I tried again and again. Maybe I'll wait for the next one. Thank you very much
