I'm having trouble with this new alarm clock. I really like everything about it EXCEPT that I can't get the alarm to retain a particular volume setting. The manual says that I should be able to set the alarm volume right after setting the time, and before setting the light level. But this doesn't happen - after setting the time, the display skips straight to the light level. I also tried setting the volume just listening to the radio, and hoping it would stay at that volume level - no dice. No matter what I do so far, when the alarm goes off, the volume starts off quiet and within about 20 seconds goes to a very loud level 15 (I'd like it to be around 8!).
I really like this clock but if I can't control the volume, I'll have to return it. Is the manual misprinted? Or is my particular unit faulty?
Thanks.

Thanks for letting me know that someone is working on it, I do appreciate that.

We are coming up on the end of the return period so I just need to know - is the clock supposed to have an adjustable volume for the alarm, as indicated in the manual, or not?
Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. The instructions say I should be able to set the alarm volume, but the alarm set function goes straight from setting minutes to setting light level. When the alarm goes off, it starts out very quiet but ramps up about every 2 seconds to a louder volume and won't stop till it hits the Light level I set (which is 15). I love everything else about this product, but will have to take it back if I can't set the alarm volume

I talked to a man in customer service this morning, and he put me on hold for like 5 mins. while he checked with someone. Came back and told me there was no record of anyone else having this problem. He said to take it back to Best Buy and have them test it in the store. If they couldn't get it to set properly, then I should ask them to exchange it.

Thanks Heather. Of course no one else has a problem!
I'll be going back to the store this week then. I'll be surprised if I exchange it and another one works - I will definitely have them test it in the store.
It's really too bad, this is just what I was looking for - IF ONLY the volume control worked!

Hi All,
I apologize for the delay in getting back to you, it is not my intention at all for you to think we do not care about your concern.
We did some research with our engineering team and unfortunately we detected a misprinting is our User's Manual in regards to the "Alarm Volume" and our the guide is being corrected as we speak.
In regards to how the "Alarms Volume" works, it cannot be changed as you have noticed while doing some test trying to make it work.
The "Alarm Volume" is designed to get progressively louder until it's stopped but the volume cannot be changed.
Once more I want to apologize for the inconveniences our mistake caused and the time you spent trying to make it work.
We will correct our guide and soon it will be posted in our Insignia website with the needed corrections.
Sorry for not being able to help you further.
Regards,
Nicolas

Thank you for your reply, Nicolas. It's too bad, because I really like this product. But no one wants an alarm clock without adjustable alarm volume! It wouldn't even be so bad if the volume ramp-up happened more slowly--like 15-30 seconds between raising volume levels. Give us a chance to wake up without it rocketing to level 15!
Guess I'll just get the newest Sony Dream Machine . . . Thanks again for your response.

I have to agree with Heather. This alarm gets really loud, really fast. I'll be returning it this weekend. ![]()
