ns-p4112 Intermittent "ER" message when listening to an audiobook

I purchased an insignia portable CD player from BestBuy yesterday.  I tried it out with several audiobook CDs.  Intermittenly, for no apparent reason, it will stop playing and when I start the player up once again, I receive an "ER" message.  Pressing the start/pause button multiple times for the same CD will sometimes allow me to continue the CD track I was on,  but not always.  All the CDs I have tried are clean and appear fine.  Any ideas?

That is a pretty generic error code.  I found a link here that has several potential solutions.  If none of those work, let me know so we can see what else we might be able to do.

I too have this issue with a brand new NS-P4112 purchased at Walmart. I looked at the site suggested by the customer service rep and found no info on repairing this issue. Please let me know what's the issue here...
