Re: 50" Insignia tv has sound but no picture

Hello, I had this same issue and when I shined a light on it, I saw the logo. What would need to be done to it?

Re: 50" Insignia tv has sound but no picture

Replace the TV. If it's still under warranty, Insignia should be willing to do it for you. If it's not, you're going to have to buy a new one.

Modern HDTVs don't have a separate light bulb. The lighting element is built into the LCD panel, and there's no way to replace that light separately. You would need to replace the panel. And buying an individual LCD panel would probably cost more than buying a whole new TV. (TV manufacturers get a volume discount price break on the panel, but you wouldn't be able to get one on a replacement.)

Re: 50" Insignia tv has sound but no picture

I have a 50 inch insignia that lost picture a week ago but still has sound. When I turn it on and out a flash light on it I can see the menu options in the background. I bought it 05/05/15 and was reading insignia TVs normally break around the 3 year mark, I guess mine didint make the mark and is not under warranty. At this point I’m wondering if it is cheaper to buy a new tv or get this fixed. My model number is ns50d420na. Is there a way to see how much this repair would cost?

Re: 50" Insignia tv has sound but no picture

For reasons I mentioned a few pages back in this thread, it's going to be cheaper to get a new TV. Buying a new LCD panel will probably cost more than the TV would new. Even if you could find a used one, you'd still have to pay a technician to put it in, and by the time you did that it would be cheaper just to get a new TV. Especially since prices for an equivalent TV have probably fallen over the last three years as 4K tech has come in.
