Favorites Function & Channel Memory

We are having 2 issues with our new TV:

1) The "Favorites" function does not work when we first turn on the TV.  We have to either move a channel up or down before the "Favorities" button on our remote will bring up the Favorites menu.

2) About 50% of the time, when we turn on the TV and start cycling through the channels, the TV does not skip the channels we have programmed to skip.  Checking the menu confirms that those channels are still listed for skipping.  This issue is typically resolved by turning the TV back off and on again -- but it still persists.

TV Model: NS-26L450A11

Mode: Cable

Other Components: Toshiba DVD player (component); Samtron (Samsung) VCR -- neither affected

Computer: none

Problem Frequency: 1) consistent 2) frequent

Recent Changes: none

Re: Favorites Function & Channel Memory

Hello jgkoch,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

My advise will be to reset the TV back to factory defaults (you will find the option on the Settings Menu). Once the TV is reset, check that the antenna connection is firmly plug and do the Auto Channel Search, when all the channels are found and saved, erase the ones you want the TV to skip. Finally once you finished setting that list, choose your Favorite channels.

If after these steps, the issue persists, please take the TV back to the store, along with your receipt, so a Geek Squad Agent can check on it.

Re: Favorites Function & Channel Memory

Thank you for your response.

I followed the instructions you posted, but the problem is the same.  For whatever reason, if the TV is off for more than 30 seconds, the TV fails to skip the selected channels.  And the Favorites function not working when the TV is first turned on must be a related issue.

Do I need an RMA or anything other than the TV and receipt to bring with to Best Buy?

Thanks again for your reply,

Jon K.

Re: Favorites Function & Channel Memory

I returned the 26" TV and purchased the 32" version (NS-32L450A1).  The same issue persists with the new TV, so it wasn't exclusive to the first unit.  I've noticed that if I continuously cycle through the channels, sometimes the TV will properly skip the channels I have selected, and then randomly it will begin showing the channels that should be skipped.  It's very strange behavior.  I can't think of what might be causing it on my end.  We have basic cable from Comcast.  The coaxial cable goes directly to our TV.  The TV detects all our channels.  I use the menu to select which channels I would like the TV to skip, but it doesn't consistently skip those channels -- and it happened with both TVs.

Someone else must have experience with this happening.

I'm going to submit a support email with Insignia, but I would appreciate any other advice from the Community.

Re: Favorites Function & Channel Memory

Hello Jon,

I'm deeply sorry to read the issue persists even on a new TV set. I'll elevate this matter to be taken into account and do further research. My best advise, however, will be for you to either replace this TV for a new one (I assure you not all TVs will experience the same problem)  or contact our Support line so they can assist you in having a technician check on your TV.
