I have an NS-LDVD26Q-10 connected to a Comcast /Motorola DCT3416 cable box via HDMI1. I have to manually change from Panorama for HD channels and Normal for LD channels. We have 2 cable boxes and another HDTV of a different brand, so I tried swapping cable boxes and it didn't help. The Insignia always required manual zooming and the other TV always automatically zoomed to the appropriate mode.
I found the forum entry on using a special sequence to see the cable boxes true mode and confirmed that it is set to 16:9/720P/480P. I tried switching back and forth from 16:9 to 4:3, but it didn't help. I also tried various resolution and interlace settings, but nothing helped.
Since the other TV works fine with both cable boxes, I think that they might not be the problem.
Any ideas what to try next. It really is quite annoying.
Thanks.

Hello Wayne,
Welcome to Community@Inisgnia™!
What you should check, first of all, that the box is setup correctly for the TV's aspect ratio (usually listed as "Wide"). Once that is taken care of, you will find on the TV's menu, under the Picture menu, on the Advanced Video option, the Aspect ratio item. You should select the Auto Zoom, that way the TV will automatically change the aspect ratio depending on the signal sent by the box.
Thank you,
Gonza

The cable box is set to 16x9 aspect ratio. The auto Zoom section is grayed ourt and unavilable when the TV is set to accept input from the HDMI1 port. After one-by-one trying all other possible input settings in the menu, I have found that the Auto Zoom option is NOT grayed out for ONLY the "TV" input setting. For all other input settings, it is unavalilable.
FYI: After readiing the manual and seeing Auto Zoom mentioned, that was the first thing I tried. I only posted here after that attempted failed. Is there any chance that some other deeply buried setting is causing this graying out of Auto Zoom? It seems logical that the Auto Zooom setting is the key and very illogical that it is only available when the TV input is selected, even though the manual explicitely states that is is only available in that mode.
FYI2:Both of my cable boxes work fine with my other (non-Insignia) HDTV at their current settings, including auto-zooming as I switch between channels, but do NOT work correctly with my Insignia HDTV. Also, I have confirmed with Comcast, during a long troubleshooting phone call, that both cable boxes are set correctly.
Thanks for your help and especially for your patience in this matter.

I am having the exact same problem with a newly purchased 26" LCD connected to a Tivo HD box. The Tivo is set to use native format, so it changes resolution automatically to match the signal. I am connected via HDMI. The TV vido setting are set to normal, which according to the docs, says it should auto-scale to match the aspect of the signal, but it is not. If I am on normal, and tune to an HD channel that is broadcasting in 16:9, the picture remains 4:3.
I previously had the tvo connected to an old westinghouse TV via the component cables, and that auto-scaled fine. I am going to try to connect the tivo to the insignia via component tonight and see if that makes a difference. I also have another tivo connected to a sony (also via component) and that scales as well.

I switched to using component instead of HDMI, and everything works fine. It scales correctly. So its just the HDMI implementation that is broken. Lucky I am not that much of a picture aficionado, so I can live with the component video.
