I just purchased a n NS24E730A12 LED HD TV. It is hooked up with an HDMI cable to a cable box. The color is very washed out when hooked up with the HDMI cable. In the picture adjustment screen the Color, Tone & Sharpness controls are greyed out and cannot be adjusted. With any other input (TV, Comp or Video) the Color, Tone & Sharpness adjustments work and I can get a much more brilliant picture.
The reset procedure discussed elsewhere on this forum was tried several times and DOES NOT work. I can find no way to make the adjustments in the HDMI mode.
The color is so poor that I am considering returning the TV.
How can I make these adjustments? Is it a firmware isssue and is there an update??

Hello Smediap,
You should be able to change those settings by setting "Mode" to "Custom" in the picture menu. Give that a try and let me know if it allows you to alter the settings you are wanting to change.

I purchased this TV today and quickly discovered the same problem. In any input format but HDMI I'm able to adjust image color, tint, and sharpness.
I've attempted to switch the tv's picture mode to "custom" but I'm still unable to make manual adjustments. Please let me know if you find a solution to this problem.

Zac,
Thanks for your response, but I had already tried that. It is very puzzling. I took the TV back to Best Buy, and they hooked it up to their system, a Blu-Ray player, I think, and it worked fine with the HDMI Cable. The color, sharpness and tint adjustments were not greyed out and could be adjusted. I brought it home, tried a different DVR box and HDMI cable that works fine with a Samsung TV, but the problem still exists.
I don't know if it is incompatibility with the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HDC DVR box, but the two just don't work together.
In desperation, I hooked up from the composite video outputs of the DVR box ( 3 RCA plugs for video, two for analog audio), and the setup works GREAT. Excellent picture. So this is the solution I am going with for the present.
I'd still like the TV to function with the HDMI cable. The Samsung works great that way, so I don't know why this won't.
Hope this solution works for Doug.

Hello lofger,
What devices are you using with your HDMI inputs?

The only device I use through the HDMI input is my Playstation 3.

I'm very interested in the solution as I'm having the very same problem. Purchased the TV at Best Buy a week or so ago. NS-24E730A12
It is hooked up to a satellite box via HDMI cable. That's it.
Regardless of which mode I am in (Custom, Vivid, etc) the Color, Tint, Sharpness are greyed out. Nothing I've tried seems to change that.
Frustrating.

Hello all,
Our engineers were able to reproduce this behavior in our lab with our cable box. Our next steps are to work with our factory toward a resolution. While we will labor to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, unfortunately since we are just beginning our research, we have no ETA on the delivery of a solution. Please bookmark this forum thread and we will add information as it becomes available. We regret the inconvenience and thank you sincerely for your patience.

I realize that it's difficult to predict when a solution may be available, but based on past experience any idea of we're talking days, weeks or months?
If this is going to be an extended issue I might wish to return the TV rather than wait for a resolution.
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you

dagies-
See my reply above. If you use the composite video inputs, it works great and none of the controls are greyed out.
I'm still looking for the HDMI solution, but the set comes with the necessary composite video input cables, and it works great. I was going to return my TV until I tried this.
I don't know how much better the HDMI input would be.
