HDMI Audio problems??? Dish

I just bought an Insignia 46" LCD TV and had a Dish Network tech come out to install the new HDTV equipment. When using the HDMI connection you cannot get audio on any of the HD channels. The picture is fine but no sound. You can get picture and sound on regular stations but not the HD channels. He said they have been doing a lot of equipment switch outs and experiencing this same issue with all Insignia TV's, and the problem was strictly to the Insignia brand and they can't figure out the issue. After reading some other posts here it seems like there is the same issue using HDMI connection to other systems like PS3, etc. We were able to connect through the component connection and get things to work, but what's up with the HDMI connection. How do we rectify this problem?

Is there a setting change or some kind of update that will fix this problem? The # on TV is E46AAZNKW1BKNNX

What more information do you want?

 

There is no sound using the HDMI connection. The component connections work fine, but why does the HDMI connection audio not work? In this case it is connected to a Dish Network box, but I also see where it has been an issue with gaming system and other things.

 

 This seems like a way of blowing off people with problems that there are not answers to. The HDMI audio problems seem to be quite a common occurance judging from the number of posts on this forum. If Insignia doesn't have a solution yet, just say so.

One essential piece of information asked for is your TV model number.  Please provide it and answer the other relevant questions in the post to which I linked, and please include additional information like which HDMI port is affected and under what conditions the problem occurs. TV model number NS-46L550A1

 

Tried all 4 HDMI connections to Dish Network box, in each case the "regular" channels all have picture and sound. However, the HD channels have picture but no audio.

 

Dish box is currently hooked up via component cables and everything works fine. Problem is with audio on HD channels using the HDMI connection.

In this case, though the Firmware Update enables pass-through of original digital audio sound (RAW) through optical out when connected to gaming system, I would suggest you to update it anyway. Just follow the Firmware Installation Guide:

Dear Insignia Tech People, this firmware does not seem to apply to my TV (NS-46E570A11). However, all of the symptoms of the other models appear in this model as well. 

 

I have no audio on HD channels on a Bell TV HD receiver, but using component cables with RCA audio jacks works just fine. This is the case on all four HDMI ports, using three different HDMI cables. Seems to me the firmware you have made available to other of your TVs ought to be made available to my model as well.

I installed the update and did manage to get the sound to work using the HDMI cable. The only thing is when you switch channels there is this annoying sharp crack sound as the channel switches. It is this brief sharp electronic sounding crack and then it is fine. I tried switching the sound settings but it continued no matter what. Any idea how to alleviate this? Thanks.
