L42Q120-10A 42" TV shuts off at random times

I have a new TV that will shut off at different times (no set time).  Any ideas how to prevent this

Re: L42Q120-10A 42" TV shuts off at random times

Hello again lannyalot,

Verify that the Sleep timer is not set.  This can be done by pushing the "Sleep" button on your remote control several times, or via the on screen menus.  Let us know if the problem persists after checking this setting.

My TV is doing the exact same thing, only it isn't the sleep timer. It shuts of at random times for no reason. I have verified many times that the sleep timer was off before the TV shut off suddenly. What is going on here?

I have seen this on my NS-L46Q120-10A.  It only happens to me on component with content coming thru at 720p or 1080p from a PS3.  This happened both with a video game and a Blu-ray movie.  When I play the same content from the same source via HDMI the set does not shut off.  It also doesn't shut off when using 480p via component.

Re: L42Q120-10A 42" TV shuts off at random times

I'm having the same problem with my NS-L46Q120-10A.  I'm also on component , coming from an Insignia Blue Ray player.  I've got some longer HDMI cables on order.  I'll see of the problem goes away when I switch over from component to HDMI.  Otherwise I'll probably return the TV.

Re: L42Q120-10A 42" TV shuts off at random times

Thanks for the suggestions, but I've checked the sleep timer & gone to "RAW" with no better results.  TV shut off 6 times the other night within an hours time of watching.  Do I have to return the set?

Gonza any update on this you said you were forwarding this to your staff this happened to me as well and i just got the ns-l46q120-10a  tv last week it happened when i had my XBOX set to 1080p connected to the component input as well. The sleep timer was not on is this a known problem with those inputs? This does not occur with AV1 or 2  and HDMI 1-4 are fine as well just the component connections. Let us know!

thanks

Re: L42Q120-10A 42" TV shuts off at random times

I am having the same problem with my L46Q120-10A 46" inch.  While using the component input with my xbox with 1080p the television randomly shuts off.

I have one other problem as well, in that the input auto detection does not work, but that is a subject for a different post, I suppose.

I love the picture, remote, functionality of this TV and don't want to have to return it... is there a solution?
