L46Q120-10A Lag Issue

Now I know I've seen a bunch of threads already on this, but I feel I need to post this separately.

I just bought this TV, and noticed that the audio has been lagging behind. Not just on video games, but also on my Satellite box. I've shut off DCM, Noise Reduction, etc. I've gone into my Sat box and changed the output from 1080i to 720p (it doesn't do 1080p). Nothing seems to help. My Sat box is connected to HDMI2, and worked fine on my old Toshiba 37" 60hz TV with the same HDMI cable. I haven't even tried to play my Xbox 360 after reading the threads on here.

Now I want to know, is there something that can be done (maybe via Firmware Update?) or is this just part of a bad batch of TV's? If I go buy another one of these TV's and return this one, can I expect the same delay? For a big purchase like this, I just can't live with it like this, especially since half the features built into the TV can't be used.

Hello kudroceswe,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

We'll be happy to look into your question if you'll please reply with your satellite box brand and model number! Also, do you notice the lag on all programming? Have you tried connecting to any of the other HDMI ports? Do you have other components connected (e.g., a disk player) that experience the problem?  Any additional details you can provide (more is better) will help us research your question.

Regards,
John

Re: L46Q120-10A Lag Issue

I am also experiencing the same "lag" and lack of Dolby Digital output.

If I run my Dish DVR audio through the television and back out the optical port to my amplifier, the audio is in sync but

I do not get any Dolby DIgital sound.

Dolby Digital is ok going straight to the amp, but out of sync with the TV. Same with my Blu-Ray.

If I use the TV tuner and tune to a local digital broadcast channel, the television outputs Dolby Digital in sync.

Have already tried different HDMI inputs (except HDMI4), component inputs, audio inputs and outputs, as well as

the various audio menu options on both the television and DVR.

My amplifier is a Sony STR-DE485 and I have a Dish DVR Model ViP722K.

Re: L46Q120-10A Lag Issue

Hello jkimli,

I would suggest that you connect the cable box to the TV with HDMI, then use the optical audio cable from the TV to the receiver. Then open the menu on the TV, go to "Advanced Audio", select "Digital Audio/SPDIF", and ensure that it is set to PCM. Your receiver will then receive that PCM signal and re-encode the audio so that it can sound the best it can.
