After reading reviews and other comments here, it doesn't seem to be unique to my NS-42P650A11 that there is a very audible buzz that comes from the plasma. Turning down the contrast will lessen it a bit, but of course you don't want to do that and it still doesn't fix the problem. Turning up the volume probably drowns it out of a lot of people that are less "sensitive" to it. For me, it's all I hear once I start paying attention to it.
Can we please get a fix for this problem? It's quite obnoxious.

Hello tjohn,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I'll be more than happy to look further into this, please provide me with the following information:
1- Does the buzz appear on all inputs?
2- Is the TV wall mounted or placed on the stand?
3- Is it located inside a cabinet or any other piece of furniture that will cover most of it?
4- What city and state are you located at?
5- Does this buzz appear when selecting an input with nothing connected to it?
6- How old is the TV?
7- How long ago did you started noticing this issue?
If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!
Thank you,

The TV is wall mounted

No
4- What city and state are you located at?
Grandville, MI
5- Does this buzz appear when selecting an input with nothing connected to it?
The TV won't allow a source that has no cables connected to be selected, but a source that has cables connected but is off still has the buzz.

Approximately 1 month
7- How long ago did you started noticing this issue?
The buzz was there the first time I turned on the TV and has been there ever since.

Hello tjohn,
The buzzing sound is caused by circuits (used to create both the picture and reuse energy to keep the unit efficiency high and panel heat emission low) operating at high frequencies and powers. This is very important on the panels that do not use fans as this model.
Usually, this buzz should only be heard in quiet surroundings and too close to the panel (10- 12 ft), however there are certain variables that will change this. If you wall mount the panel, the buzz emitted from the back of the panel will be reflected off the wall and become amplified. Changing the picture mode in the picture settings menu will also reduce or amplify the level of perceived noise since this affects how much power the panel is processing and this the level of power produced.
So, plasma panels do not run in total silence, but if the buzz is heard above normal ambient daytime noise and audio levels at more that 12’ a problem might be present. If you feel this buzz is excessive, please contact our Geek Squad Repair team so a technician can check on this personally and evaluate it.
If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!
Thank you,
Gonza
