NS-46E560A11 Black Issues

Just purchased the NS-46E560A11 and had a few questions. I notice when a movie is put in and the screen is blank, there are large dull spots on the otherwise black screen. They look almost like glares, but they stay in the same spot when you move the tv, so it's behind the screen. They look like splotches of light that are dulling the black from behind. I've messed with the tint and brightness to no avail. Right now I'm watching a blu-ray and theres a splotch on the upper left corner of the black widescreen bar, and another on the bottom right. When the tv is on and the ps3 isn't on, the screen is perfectly black, but once the source goes on, it is very obvious. It's very distracting during dark screens having splothes of the screen that aren't as dark as the rest of the screen. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: NS-46E560A11 Black Issues

I tried calling Geek Squad and I was told that it was normal for it to not be perfectly black, and was told I could exchange it if I wanted to give another one a try. I want to do this but I'd have to arrange for a vehicle that can carry such a large tv. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what might be causing this? I can try to get a photo to explain the issue if that would help. I just want to know if this is normal before I go crazy, driving two hours to Best Buy fives times to exchange tvs.

Re: NS-46E560A11 Black Issues

Hello TaddGood,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

It's normal for the TV to have certain "brighter" areas on the sides, but always on dark rooms where the contrast between illuminated areas and dark ones will be noticeable. The issue, however, is that this appears when connecting your gaming console, and this may be the cause of this brighter areas, since a defective connection may cause them.

My advise will be to try with other devices connected to the same port and see. If the issue persists, after testing different devices and cables, them, take it back to the store or contact Geeks Squad so we can assist you further on this.

If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!

Thank you,

Re: NS-46E560A11 Black Issues

It appears on the screen during tv shows too. Basically any time there is a dark scene, even when it's not black, there is a pattern on the screen. To me it looks like a lighting patern from behind is illuminating certain parts of the screen more so than other areas. It's very distracting, and the pattern stays in the same position, it doesn't follow the movement on screen or anything. I'll try to take a picture of it later to explain the situation better, but it looks like small halos of light behind the screen, even when nothing is playing. When the screen is on, but there's not even a source hooked up, it's very noticeable. I really woudl like to take the tv back and exchange it but it's a 2 hour drive and I have to find a vehicle that can transport such a large tv.
