I use closed caption because of a hearing problem. I have had this unit for about 6 months and closed caption has worked fine. Today I was watching a show and closed caption did not work. I went into the menu-setting and it was grayed out on the selections. I pushed cc on my remote and I got a red O with a slash through it. Is there any other things that would cause this?

Hello mridan,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I have questions for you:
Closed caption options can be set through the TV, through a DVD/Blu-ray player, and/or through a cable satellite box, so you may wish to check the settings for those devices if you're using them.
More details about your home theater set up, your cable/satellite provider, connection types, etc. will help us research your question.
Regards,
John

I cannot turn the cc on in any mode. I have direct tv and I have netflix through my panasonic blu-ray. I have been able to have closed captions on all of these till yesterday.

Not to repeat what John has already asked, but in order to better understand where the problem is occurring I will need to know what type of connection is being used (HDMI, Component, etc.)
Since I do know from your last post that we are dealing with DirecTV, I know there will be a box involved. If you are connecting over HDMI for HD programming you will need to use the DirecTV remote to set the Closed Captioning. On most of the newer boxes you will use the Yellow button to access a menu with both Closed Captioning and Subtitle options on the box.
Give that a shot and if we need to investigate further go ahead and check what type of connections you are using for me and we can investigate.
Regards,
Anthony
