Re: NS-L32X-10A Overscan is always on and cannot be turned off

I have tried with component and the picture is almost identical, I am also pretty sure the overscan option is greyed out even with component. My feeling is that it isn't even an overscan issue at all at this point, shouldn't overscan be a very very small portion of the screen? I am missing enough of the screen that text near the bottom of the screen is cut off. If I could tweak the amount of zoom with the "wide" picture setting I would be able to fix this. There is nothing I can do right now configuration wise to get the picture to display properly, and considering there isn't many more people on dbstalk forums complaining of this issue I have to assume it is an issue with the television's ability to display HD television resolutions. A good deal of other people have this issue as there are multiple threads on it. I still believe a firmware update or service menu access is the only thing that will allow this TV to function properly with HD TV resolutions. Here is exactly how bad the problem is:

Displayed on computer:

Displayed on TV:

Notice the logo is MUCH close to the edge when displayed on the TV. Same source, same aspect ratio, same resolution.

Im having the same problem with my 55" LCD but the only thing insignia does is dance around this common problem that alot of us are having. Dont delete my post again INSIGNIA and fix the problem.

Re: NS-L32X-10A Overscan is always on and cannot be turned off

In another thread I saw someone mention that the "normal" picture zoom does not detect 1080p/1080i/720i/720p as wide screen. I agree with this because when the TV is displaying 1080 content the screen is actually squished down into a 4:3 image with bars on the side in "normal" picture zoom. Why on earth would an HD tv behave in this way? In a nutshell: Make "normal" picture mode function correctly with 1080p/i 720p/i or make wide zoom less with a firmware update. If no action is taken on this message board I will be contacting best buy regarding this issue and seeking a refund/replacement.

Re: NS-L32X-10A Overscan is always on and cannot be turned off

Had it for about 8 months, it has a 2 year warranty. I also purchased an extra 2 years of warranty for it. So, if the TV cannot properly display HD resolutions then it either needs to be repaired or replaced. It's seriously unacceptable.

Re: NS-L32X-10A Overscan is always on and cannot be turned off

Its a shame that this had to happen. When i first bought the tv I figured Insignia would be a pretty decent brand since it is exclusive to bestbuy. bestbuy has always been great but i cant believe they still support this brand even with all the problems they have.

I'll have to warn all my friends to stay away.

Re: NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

*Finaly* -Spent countless hours toward getting this issue resolved. My tip to anyone with this issue: Don't focus on the input your having this issue with, -instead get HDMI 1 to allow enabling / disabling overscan at will. Once HDMI 1 allows this (and is set to 'no overscan'), your input at issue (for me it was component 1), will have overscan disabled. In a funny twist of fate, you then won't have the option to enable it on that input you previously couldn't turn it off on....lol. That this is the case, is why this bug causes both sides of the coin (so to speak) with some people having an issue with not being able to enable overscan when they need too. To get HDMI 1 to allow enable / disable at will, I did the following: Some of these steps may be unnecessary: I disconnected the computer DVI>HDMI cable from HDMI 1 (the only input I can use to connect a computer), -then I connected my PS3 to HDMI instead. I then had to tweak the PS3 display options and once they were set to the settings that worked for me, -it was necessary to turn off the TV and back on again, -before it would allow enabling / disabling overscan at will. I'm not sure if I needed to do all the changes I made in my PS3, -but I'm nervous to play with things now because I *finally* have a disabled overscan on Component 1. My PS3 changes include setting HDMI to RGB limited, and enabling the HDMI YPBR output to ON, and I enabled HDMI 'communication control'. (I know some of these changes make no sense). For me, -I'm lucky that I currently don't have a desire to connect my PC to the TV, -when I want to do that again -I expect an hour or so of trial and error will be necessary to get the PS3 to work without overscan on HDMI 2, -and I'll probably have to fix Component 1 again as it likely will have overscan enabled with no way to turn it off. -Sigh, this bug is NASTY and to have things go as long as they have without a firmware fix release, -is why I'm done with Insignia going forward.
