NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

I am having problems with overscan on my HDTV. It seems that when playing games or watching videos, the edges of the screen are clipped. To clarify, I am using a PS3 mainly for blurays (HDMI 1) and an Xbox 360 for gaming (Component 1). In both cases, the edges of the screen are clipped, meaning overscan is on. However, in the advanced options, not only is overscan set to off, but it is greyed out (unselectable). I've tried the various methods in other posts (removing the cable, setting overscan then reconnecting and so forth), but none seem to be doing the trick. If it was only doing it on one system, then I would try working with those, but since it is on both the 360 and PS3, I'm thinking the problem is with the TV. Any help?

Re: NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

Its not your game system I have the same problem. When playing games in HD on my xbox a small section of the screen is cut off and its because overscan is on. i dont know why overscan is automatically on for HD but its really annoying and it doesnt let you change it. i think the only way to fix this is if insignia makes a firmware update that will let you turn overscan off. i dont think they have one yet though. btw i have the NS-L32X-10A model and connected through hdmi with xbox.

Re: NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

Hello all,

Welcome to Community@Inisgnia™!

Overscan will only work on HDMI/DVI input. My advise is to check the aspect ratio is correctly setup on the device you are connecting to the TV, once you are positive about the selected size, connect both devices and let the EDID share the information on resolution and picture configuration. You may find useful switching inputs to allow the TV to gather the information and do an autosetup.

Thank you,

Hi Gonzalo, thanks for trying to help us fix the problem but i think you misunderstood. we wanted to turn overscan off but the tv locks the overscan setting. overscan is always on for HD and we would like to disable it but cant. i would like to MANUALLY DISABLE overscan. any advice?

NS-L32X-10A Overscan is always on and cannot be turned off

Hi, i have the NS-L32X-10A tv and i am having trouble disabling overscan. I have an xbox 360 connected through hdmi and a blu-ray player also connected through hdmi. both have the edges of the screen cut off. i know that overscan is what causes this, but the option to turn off overscan is not available. in the tv menu it is greyed out. so my question is; can overscan be turned off manually? thanks

Re: NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

While calibrating my new TV, I realized I HAD the same problem, but after checking the Owner's Manual, I figured out how to fix it.

It's not intuitively obvious this is the solution to our overscan problem, but it works.

Whatever your HD source is (Blu-ray, XBox 360, PS3...) figure out how to make that device output in the RGB Color Space (NOT YCbCr 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 ).

As soon as you do that, your overscan problem for that input is gone.

You're Welcome!

Re: NS-L32X-10A and Overscan

Thanks man, but I already knew that RGB color automatically turns off overscan. I found out when i connected it to my computer and there was no picture loss. However there is no option to switch color modes on my cable box or my xbox so i have to find a solution that can fix the problem for YCbCr. All HD resolutions 480p, 720p, and 1080p all get overscanned when in YCbCr color. The overscan option in advanced settings is LOCKED and the tv will not allow me to turn it off.

---Btw I am roughly... 100% sure it's a Firmware issue that can easily be fixed---
